That was so much fun to paint! Now I'm going to get ready to start my next "Arcane Ritual" piece after a brief break to get a drink!

That's a perfect looking Octopus! They are so neat. I watched a show on animal planet that showed just how smart they are. I never knew.

Oh WOW Jasmine! What an amazing octopus! The features are absolutely perfect! Color and all! Did you have a picture to look at to see how they looked? Or did you do that all from your head? Either way, my GOD you are talented =) I may have to use my paycheck to buy that one. Hehe- bills can wait!

Thank you!!! I looked at a few different photographs of different types of octopi, and I just kinda made up a conglomeration of several species. I don't like working from specific photos much - it's not as fun for me as an artist, and also most photographs are copyrighted by the photographers!

Re:

Very true! It's better to have a bunch of different references anyways. I try to make it a point of not looking at a picture while I'm drawing. That is straight up copying and doesn't take much effort. It's much better when it comes from your head =)

the octopus that crawled away

I would like to own this piece, but the cable bill must get paid, somehow. Sigh....

It is terribly frustrating to see all the art leave. I see Jasmine make it and then **poof** it is gone and somebody has it on their wall. I will miss this octopus.

Re: wow!

Thank you!!! I've had a growing interest in octopi for the past few years - I've never really tried to paint one before this though! It was fun to do - lots of detail and interesting organic shapes.
