New Unseelie Court, Faces of Faery, Disney & Works-in-Progress from Jasmine

Updates from Jasmine!

Great stuff to show you & tell you about today!

Two new paintings - "Unseelie Court:  Death"  and "Faces of Faery 227"

My "Autumn Tour" is in full swing!  I am all over the world this month, (Disneyland in California, Disney World in Florida,  Whitby in the UK, Glastonbury in the UK, back to Florida again, a Mail-in-Show in Seattle,....).  To see all of my upcoming events, visit my Events Page Here .  Even though I'll be traveling, I'll be doing quite a bit of painting along the way - to keep up on my current works in progress, keep an eye out at my Facebook HERE or Instagram (My user ID is Strangeling).

I also have some new works-in-progress to tell you about, including a new Halloween painting & a pastel painting too!

"Unseelie Court:  Death"

16"x20" Original Acrylics on Panel, $5800 SOLD, prints & canvasesHERE

The third painting in my series called "The Unseelie Court" - specifically for the subset inspired by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse - this is the piece I painted "live" as a demonstration at my gallery at the Kansas City Renaissance Festival. Each painting in my Unseelie Court series depicts important individuals or families within the Unseelie Court. Exploring the darker side of the Fairy Court, the Unseelie faeries take their theming from slightly unpleasant aspects of the magical and natural world. But of course despite being wicked they will have a beautiful and refinded elegance about them.... This particular painting in the series symbolizes "Death". I tried to use a variety of death imagery from many cultures and centuries past - pre-Columbian Central American carvings, Egyptian Book of the Dead, medieval/renaissance Europe and beyond (her scythe has a distinctly contemporary video game feel...). So many great references in this one, really speaks to the Art History nerd in me (especially Saturn Eating His Children in her skirts, and the Burial at Ornans funeral). The original piece sold, but prints, canvases & posters are available. Stay tuned for Famine later, before I begin on the Unseelie Court: Deadly Sins subset!

The original painting of "Unseelie Court:  Death" has sold, but we have prints (signed by me on the back) starting at $9.99 as well as Limited Edition Canvas Prints hand embellished & numbered by me for only $125 at Strangeling.com HERE

Or if you prefer eBay, the $9.99 8x10 signed glossy prints are HERE and the $19.99 12x16 signed glossy prints are HERE

and 11x14 Lt. Ed. Canvases are HERE

And of course prints are up at our Etsy store

We also have a set of ALL THREE Unseelie Court pieces in the series so far - only $30 for the set of 8x10s, $60 for the set of 12x16s, all signed on the back by meHERE

"Faces of Faery 227"

6"x6" Original Acrylic Painting SOLD, prints & canvases are HERE

The two-hundred-and-twenty-seventh installment (geez!) in my ever-popular-seemingly-immortal Faces of Faery series, here is Faces of Faery #227!   The original acrylic painting was sold, but we have prints (signed by me on the back) starting at $9.99 as well as Limited Edition Canvas Prints hand embellished & numbered by me for only $75 HERE

I've got some works-in-progress!

Work-in-progress! An updated shot of the little Halloween piece I had started at the KC Renfest last weekend. She's destined to hang at Eight And Sand Gallery's All Hallows show opening this Saturday in Seattle! This original piece will be for sale there, priced at $2200, framed original acrylic on panel - if you are interested contact the curator Alex at eightandsand@gmail.com - let them know you are interested in Jasmine Becket-Griffith's original piece for All Hallows (and yes, she'll ship worldwide for those of you not in the Seattle area). This cutie has an octopus in a pumpkin, because I love them both!

Yep, I said pastels - somebody asked me yesterday if I ever work in any other media than in acrylic paints, and actually yes - I've been doing some smaller study paintings in pastels! Here's one I'm getting close to being finished with, a 5x7 pastel painting on board, facial study. Since folks are curious about this sort of thing, I might post these from time to time!

Might even put them in frames & pop one or two up in my eBay store here soon, if you guys would like. Since my travelling schedule is so heavy this autumn I might be doing a lot more of these soon, as pastels travel better in (less spilling, messy) than traveling with all my paints, or trying to paint in the car or a hotel, etc. Other than practice/study pieces in pastels, the rest of my work (all the stuff you see online) is always acrylic painting, usually on board, wood or sometimes canvas. These are Caran d'Ache pastels on a masonite panel treated with marble & pumice dust.
