Cello Storm - new original painting - also head's up on going out of town... [Feb. 1st, 2010|06:58 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Hi everyone!

I have a new painting to show you tonight! I am simply in love with this one "Cello Storm" - it has everything, a cello, a cat, beautiful scenery, a thunderstorm....and I have prints up already too! Also just a head's up - I will be out of town later on this week - shouldn't affect much, but I just like to let you all know.

*************************
Quick note: As I mentioned, I will be out of town (out of the country) from Thursday, February 4th through Sunday, February 7th. This will not affect ANY of my auctions, I won't be leaving until current ones have ended, and the others won't end until I get back home. So this will not affect bidding in any way - no worries. My eBay store (ie, just the prints) will go into vacation mode while I'm gone, but again - actual auctions (canvases, originals, aceos, etc.) will not be affected, so please (please!) bid while I'm gone, I'll be home in plenty of time to ship! If you currently owe me money, or want to get any last minute orders shipped - please be sure to have payment in to me by Wednesday, February 3rd at NOON Central Time, and we'll ship before we leave. Otherwise - no hurry - I'll ship after I get home on Sunday. No big deal - just three days - I just won't have much computer access while I'm gone so I like to let everybody know ahead of time. And of course, my Zazzle store keeps going even when I'm out of town - so feel free to order there in the meantime! Questins? Just email me!

All right, the new original painting! "Cello Storm" is the title -a gothic beauty playing the cello - out in the rolling fields - playing feverishly as a lightning storm approaches..... I adore Rococo furniture and had fun juxtaposing a magnificent sofa in the outdoor setting. The little black cat is my own baby Azrael, who has the habit of appearing in my paintings. I listed to a lot of classical cello music whilst painting this piece, as well as some Rasputina and Matson Jones, hehe. This is a BIG painting too - 24" high by 18" wide! 2" deep cradled masonite panel, it is ready-to-hang - no frame needed. And oh yes, it starts at just ONE PENNY up on eBay to give everybody a chance! It'll be up for 10 days, ending the afternoon/evening of Thursday, February 11th at 5:32PM (long after I'm back home!) and you can see her here:

Jasmine, I love your work but I have to point out that with cello, and all modern stringed instruments, you bow with your right hand and finger with the left.

Nope, doesn't really matter, they are all played right handed for bow, left for fingering. Which if you are a lefty is good cause you are more coordinated when you start.

Its cool though it took me a while to figure out what was going on with it when it finally dawned on me.

Interesting!

That's really odd, one of my customers wrote me a nice letter thanking me for portraying left handed cellists like them, lol - maybe they were joking.

Hmmm, maybe it was a backwards compliment. I've been playing with orchestras for about 20 years on and off and its always been right hand bow.
