Jasmine's New BIG Alice & Mad Hatter ORIGINAL PAINTING, Tons of Valentine's Day sale & canvases! [Jan. 27th, 2009|07:20 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Hi everyone!

I have a brand new original painting to show you - hands down one of my BEST so far. Two words - MAD HATTER! The latest in my Alice in Wonderland/Steampunk Series - finally I have "Alice and the Mad Hatter" - you really have to see this one! Also I have all my Valentine's Day themed prints on sale (lots of them!), and the new #01 Canvases for my latest Valentine's Day paintings.

First off is the new original painting - "Alice and the Mad Hatter"! The latest installment in my ever-popular "Alice in Wonderland" series - this is the 21st painting in the series (wow) - and I think it is my BEST! This is one of those extra special paintings I simply can't stop staring at. Alice and the Mad Hatter - yes, finally I've painted him - Alice looking frankly bored, and Hatta looking frankly MAD. Inspired a bit by Tom Waits' song lyric "Mad as a Hatter... thin as a dime" - he's nearly skeletal. Of course there's not a lot of nutrition in a meal consisting solely of tea and mushrooms! It also looks like he's suffered a head wound or trauma of some kind. Mushrooms of all kinds fill the plates, and a glowing viscous liquid fills the tea set. A decidedly Steampunk flair (this piece goes with my Alice in Steampunk subset series) - cogs and gears and clockwork inspired by Lewis Carroll's elements of time, mathematics and of course clocks. There is a phenomenal amount of detail in this, I stayed up in the wee hours working on this - going a bit mad myself..... This really is a stunning painting - it truly can be the focus of any room. and is up for sale on eBay - a seven day auction starting at ONE PENNY with no reserve - yes, a penny - ending on the evening of Tuesday, February 3rd at 6:09PM Central Time and you can see it here (go see this one, really it's cool!):

Sort of looks like Tom Petty as the Hatter from 1985.
