Watching CNN [Feb. 25th, 2003|11:02 am]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith

I'm watching CNN and not only do they talk about re-naming "French Fries" as "Freedom Fries", they talk about "Liberty Dressing" instead of (you guessed it) "French Dressing". So I guess there are hick morons in places other than Kansas City too!

I heard about Saddam wanting to have a live debate with GW Bush - I think he should take him up on that. Since "arguments" between nations are generally just arguments between the leaders of nations, they should really just try to resolve things now before it gets out of hand. But of course, I really don't think GW Bush is very good at impromptu speaking - I don't think he has enough RAM or something.

And - here's a message just for the sound folks at CNN: Knock it off with the "Showdown with Saddam" music. We know war is scary without them playing music like freaking Sephiroth is about to descend. Grr..

i agree, i think they should talk to each other. public or private they should have a nice long face to face talk before things go any farther. at least then we could maybe feel a little more behind the president whatever the outcome. i dont know.

Oh geez.. I know what you mean about the music. And when there's no music, they use cheap bright orange/red graphics that read "WAR WITH IRAQ" or "HIGH TERROR ALERT!" with ugly flames at the side.

*shrug* Down here in California they advised us not to buy any imported wine...

I live in Portland, and the mayor here actually tried to pass a resolution that would make Portland officially an 'anti-war' city (I'm not sure how that helps things, but it's interesting). The rest of the west coast makes fun of Portland for being all wanna-be European and squishy, which is fine with me - I don't think anyone around here will start changing the names of our french fries (which aren't even French to begin with! They're English!). Regardless, no politics are going to stop me from buying my cheap French wine at Trader Joe's! Hee hee! :)
