Movies, "Flowers in My Hair", Zodiac ACEOs, Heavenly Nightshade Prints.... [Jan. 6th, 2008|06:39 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Matt & I watched a TERRIBLE movie last night. It was simply awful. Awful beyond description, with no redeeming values whatsoever!

It was called "Zombie Nation". I thought it was one of the worst movies every made (and I really enjoy bad movies, usually!) - and apparently a lot of people agree with me - according to its IMDB rating, it is the #2 worst movie of all, almost topping their "Bottom 100 List"! Anybody else seen it?

I also watched Repo Man (for probably the 10th time), but that of course is an excellent movie. I love "Repo Man" - I watched it a lot when I was a kid, so I'm also very nostalgic about it. I like a lot of the music in it, too.

We also snuck out and saw "Sweeney Todd" a few days back, that was also a very excellent movie. I'm not a fan of most musicals really, but I really like Sweeney Todd, and of course Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Tim Burton, & Alan Rickman are all favourites of mine too, and they did a great job. It was funny seeing them all singing though for some reason, hehe.

Other than watching movies, I've pretty much been working my fingers to the bone =/

Now the art stuff - I have a brand new ORIGINAL painting on wood, Heavenly Nightshade SALE prints & #01 Canvas, and finally - four years in the making - I have ALL of my Zodiac ACEOs up for auction! They turned out beautifully, and all 12 are up on eBay right now!

First off - a quick note - thank you for your overwhelming response about my cameo necklaces! I apologize to everybody who missed out, all 20 sold out yesterday a half hour after I listed them, and I listed more today but they sold out instant. NO WORRIES though - since I'm having fun making them, and since there is obviously a demand for them, I will continue making more of them regularly, so you will see many more from me soon, I promise. Don't worry!

Now - the new painting is called "Flowers in My Hair" - a painting on wood! It features a beautiful big eyed dark haired fairy creature with all colours of flowers in her hair. It is READY TO HANG and does not require framing. The sides of the oval beveled wood panel are painted a glossy black - it is quite stunning! It is an environmentally-conscious selected wood, no worries! I have finished the piece with a glossy varnish and it looks amazing! No framing is needed - I will include a sawtooth hanger and screws for easy hanging! It is about 8.5" tall by 6.5" wide - a tall rectangular wooden panel, original acrylic painting on wood (about 1" thick basswood). She is up for a 7-day auction on eBay starting at just a penny with NO reserve - the auction will be ending on the afternoon/evening of Sunday, January 13th at 5:12PM Central Time, and you can see her below, click on the sneak preview image to see the whole painting:

She is starting at a penny, with no reserve for a seven-day auction ending on the evening of Sunday, January 13th at 5:06 PM Central Time.

And finally, I have all 12 Zodiac ACEO Cards for you today! *lol-I could only stomach the first five minutes of Zombie Nation, before I decided I'd much rather trap something tender in a drawer, than waste another moment that I'd never get back, so kudos for gritting your teeth until the end.

As for Repo Man-sublime movie, which of course was made by Alex Cox. True story: Alex Cox of course is from Liverpool, and several years ago, I used to see him travelling on the number 284 bus on my way home from work. He was always reading, and seemed so engrossed that I never had the bottle to be a complete idiot and go up to him and say-'Repo Man-what a cool movie, or whats Gary Oldman really like?!'

I saw one of his later flicks in the dollar bins in Big Lots recently-called 'the Three Businessmen'.Pretty poor movie all told-despite some nice exterior shots of my home town, which is probably why I saw him on the # 284 bus and not in a limo;)

Gah, it was all downhill from there, too, hehe. Ugh! The zombies don't even show up really until the last 20 minutes, and there were only 5 of them. Hardly a "nation" =P

How bizarre. Other than Repo Man and Sid & Nancy, I don't think I've seen any of his other films...

Aaaah! That is totally my sort of channel, hehe! I love really bad movies as well as really good movies. I don't like the mediocre ones, hehe. Laughing at bad movies (especially horror or sci-fi) is one of my favourite things to do!

Oh, definitely - I'll probably put up some more cameo necklaces later this week! I've been having a blast making them, a fun hobby.

Your work on wood is fabulous, as always.... and I dig all the zodiac ones -- my fave still remains the Capricorn one as I am a Capricorn :o)

I warned Kevin and Zombie Nation -- if it's not the George Romero 'flesh-eaters' one knows it can't be too good to begin with -- but man, this movie DOES look badder than bad, in a sorry baaaaaad way....

Sweeney Todd now takes a place in my top 20 fave movies of all time. Loved it!

Feel free to clutter away, hehe! Whenever I leave the comment option on, that typically means I WANT comments, hehe =) It's actually better to post comments than email, since I get to these faster =P

Happy to help!

I haven't done any esty-specific paintings - they might be older pieces, or perhaps just posts you've missed. Sometimes though I will put up prints on etsy before prints are released on eBay or through my website, as a treat to the etsy folks!

I want to order one of your prints, but your e-bay page doesnt show the shipping costs to the Netherlands. How much would it be?

It is about a 10x8 size photoprint.
