Good morning, good morning [Nov. 18th, 2007|08:54 am]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
I had terrible dreams about school all night long =P

I don't have dreams in general very often, but when I do, they're usually very annoying. Like having to go back to take a class at school for some reason, even though I'm now in my twenties, and have a successful career that doesn't require a degree, and I already have a degree. So I don't know why Dream Jasmine goes back to school in these dreams, but it's sure annoying.

Lately, after the Daylight Savings Time time-switch, I've been waking up at 7:00am instead of 8:00am. I'm going to try to stick with it. I get a lot done in the mornings. I've been so busy lately, it's crazy - trying to finish up half a dozen projects at once, especially things that need to be done before Christmas, etc. In a way, I'm happy - I stopped accepting Christmas-deadlined commission work back in July, so I don't have to deal with last minute requests (just catching up on other stuff). My commissioned painting waiting list is now running two years now, so I won't have that problem until 2010, and probably not even then if things keep up.

Still fitting in time to do my OWN paintings too - in fact I'm almost done with a new WIZARD OF OZ themed piece. I'm going to do a series - kinda started with my Wicked Witch & Her Flying Monkey and will continue showing the various other characters as well. I'm going to explore some of the more obscure Oz books and characters too, not just the usual ones. That's the plan at least =)

Matt's still sleeping. When we were in London, we got used to going out for "Full English Breakfast" in the mornings, which Matt loved! So back in the States now, I make Matt "English Breakfast" every Sunday mornin. For the non-Brits here, an English Breakfast more or less consists of Sausage (But of course with us it is VEGETARIAN sausage, which is plentiful in England), Eggs, beans, grilled mushroom, grilled tomato, potatoes, and then tea & toast. In England they have a magnificent selection of Quorn brand veggie-sausages. But none of those have migrated to this side of the Atlantic yet, so I typically make him breakfast with Morningstar Farms veggie links, which are tasty, but not nearly as good.

Myself, I'm NOT a breakfast person. I have a cup of juice and a bowl of all-bran cereal with raisins every single morning, that's pretty much it. Ho-hum.

Oh! I just heard him taking a shower, I'll go start that breakfast now! Hope everybody is enjoying their weekend. I'll post tonight when I finish the new Wizard of Oz painting!

i rarely have the re-occuring "back to school" dreams. mine always seem to be about being back at my old job at WGOG...my timing being way off, i'm missing cues, going into the news late and then finding out that i forgot to pull music for the next hour. o_O

Argh, how frustrating!

I still get Dairy Queen (my previous job) dreams too, especially inspired by the .99 cent Banana Split Sale madness that almost drove me over the edge - still haunting my dreams years later.....

sounds horrifying. o_O i hope the dreams don't involve banana splits chasing you around, trying to eat you. the sister of my ex-roommate once had a dream like that involving a burger king whopper.

I have those "back at school" dreams quite often and I'm 51 years old! I think we're destined to always have them. Mine are always so vividly detailed, too....so real!!!!!
As for early morning...I've always thought that was the best time of day!! So quiet and sweet and full of promise!!

They drive me nuts! It's always something silly like I forgot to take a calculus test, and have to go back for a whole year. It always seems so reasonable at the time. Then I woke up and thought I was late for school =P

I think those sorts of dreams are anxiety dreams. I have them, too, at the grand age of 37! Except, in my dreams, I have a class I'm trying to get to and it's at the top of some cliff that only a mountain goat could get to!

That sounds like a little too much food for me, I'm a toast and coffee girl. ;)

Definitely anxiety dreams, that's for sure.

Me too - I just goggle at Matt while he wolfs it down!

It sure is a filling meal! Takes quite a bit of prep work too, trying to get everything cooked at the same time =P

This is so bizarre-but I swear I dreamt about you last night. For some odd reason, I was introducing you to my old man, who was working behind the counter in an English grocery shop. Here's the oddest thing-you were incredibly worried about something, and when it came time for you to give me a hug, you held onto me for dear life.

Strange.

Anyway, Sunday is also our day for the full English, so I'm off to enjoy mine.

Sweet dreams Jasmine;)

That is bizarre indeed! That was probably just Dream Jasmine, being incredibly worried about having to go back to school, lol.

Hope you enjoyed your breakfast! I love how in the UK, a lot of the breakfast patrons wash down their full English with a pint at 9am, hehe.

What kind of beans are they? Like the kind they use for "beans on toast"?

That sounds really good!

James and I want to go backpack around Europe for at least a month. I think that would be the coolest trip ever! But it will have to wait until my kids are MUCH MUCH older.

Usually, English beans are the Heinz regular, with tomato sauce. You can get a generic brand here though, but they call it BBQ sauce.

Yep yep - to be authentic, I hit the British Import aisle at our grocery, and get the Heinz beans =)

OH wow, nice to see you posting again with comments turned on. You should try to post more often, a lot of the old livejournalers are so quiet these days, its just not the same anymore.
Those back to school dreams haunt me too, I hated school, maybe that is why. Did you like school?

I've been so busy lately, it seems like I can't keep up sometimes. I will definitely try to update more often though =) For awhile I had to keep turning off the comments because spam-robots were filling up my inbox with screened anonymous comments full of Viagra ads written in the Russian alphabet - very bizarre and annoying.

I hated school more than anything in the world. Every day as an adult I wake up and breathe a sigh of relief that I don't have to go back there. I was good in school, I never got less than an A in every single subject, even through college, but I hated every minute of it =P

I know what you mean, I felt so restricted at school, being part of the institution, in Australia most schools you have to wear a uniform too, which makes you feel worse i think.

Re: your dream I would say its anxiety related for sure and probably could also signify tests that you might be going through in your life where you feel pressures.

I hate school dreams. Those are always the worst for me. I hated school with a passion.

I know what you mean about the time change. It's royally messed me up. I can't seem to get enough rest lately. *Sighs*

I miss your posts, Hun!]

*Hugs*

During the holidays if you have a few hours to get some dinner and walk around Disney Village or Westside let me know.

I love big breakfasts, but usually a few hours after I am awake. I always have problems eating for a while after I first wake up.

I have recurring dreams where I am in school, but not any school I have ever been in in real life. It's like a special Dream School. I swear I can draw the layout of it even! Weird.

(By the way, I have been loving your paintings lately. I am just awful at coming up with different comments other than silly things like, "ooh, so pretty", lol.)

Now that authentic English breakfasts are harder to get, I've gone back to not being a breakfast person! But we love to make them for special occasions. You definitely have to have Heinz beans - nothing else seems to taste quite right!

I still have those dreams too...both high school and college and I graduated both and am in my THIRTIES!!! (GOD I sound old now...)

I've had the Morningstar sausage patties. They're really not bad...and that's coming from a non-vegetarian. :P

*HUGS*
