"Death and the Maiden", "Bumblebee Tattoo", etc. [Aug. 7th, 2007|02:57 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Hi everyone!

I have several brand new paintings to show you! One is a big framed piece, another was actually a privately commissioned custom piece (so that original is not available, but prints are), Sale prints & canvas prints for both, and a couple of MINI original paintings.

The first one - "Death and the Maiden" is my latest framed original painting! Death and the Maiden - was a popular motif in Renaissance art, also in poetry and music (particularly Franz Schubert's beautiful song of the same name). It is up in my eBay store at a fixed price where it will remain until purchased (otherwise I'll take her with me to the Fall conventions of Faerie-Con and Dragon*Con, so grab her if you like her now!) - you can see her below....*Please note - this is rated PG for partial nudity and a yucky skeleton*

If the original is not in your budget, the Limited Edition Hand Embellished Canvas prints for "Death and the Maiden" are now up for purchase in my eBay store here:

Click HERE for "Death and the Maiden" 11"x14" Lt. Ed. Hand Embellished CANVAS PRINTS these are truly the next best thing.....

"Death and the Maiden" is also one of this week's SALE prints (see further below for more info).

The second new original painting - "Bumblebee Tattoo" features a CUTE wide-eyed fairy with black & yellow striped hair, a bumblebee tattooed on her arm, and several bumblebee friends. "Bumblebee Tattoo" was a custom commissioned painting, which means that the original painting already belongs to a private customer. However, I do have PRINTS available. The next best thing to the original is truly the Hand Embellished Limited Edition CANVAS prints - they are up in my eBay store now here:

Click HERE to see the "Bumblebee Tattoo" 8"x10" LT. ED. HAND EMBELLISHED CANVAS PRINTS!

To see any other available originals, just visit my Original Paintings section of my store here.

To see these two new paintings available as various open edition sale prints all together in the SALE section of my store, click below:

"Death and the Maiden" 8x10" SALE PRINT $10 & "Death and the Maiden" 12x16" BIG SALE PRINT $20

and "Bumblebee Tattoo" 8x10" SALE PRINT $10

If you're curious about the "Death and the Maiden" theme - you might want to listen to Franz Schubert's song - you can YouTube a great symphony version of it, too (I listened to it while I painted this piece).

Or check out some of Hans Baldung Grien's painting renditions of it from the 1400s-1500s - he painted it many times. Click HERE to see my favourite version of his (warning, it's kinda creepy!).

Back to painting! Right now I'm working on a painting inspired by an angel statue from Highgate Cemetery I went to last week!

i love your version of 'death and the maiden' - rated PG - lol. i had to laugh at that. Hans Baldung Grien's version is quite scary, but powerful all the same.
