New Custom Fairy auction & MINIS & Mega-Con & Guitar [Feb. 13th, 2007|06:47 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
So - back by popular demand and many requests, I have another one of my "Custom" auctions!! And even better than usual - this one is a BIG 12"x16" size! Basically it is an unfinished painting - just the basics are there - a wide eyed girl in front dark background. The winner of this auction will get to tell me what colour/style to make her hair, what colour eyes she should have, what type of skin tone, what kind of clothes, and what kind of wings (or no wings at all) if she's a fairy, or perhaps a "tail" if she is a mermaid! See her below:

BIG Custom Original Painting Auction

Also - over the past couple of weeks I have finished many little "MINI" paintings - 5"x3" tiny original acrylic paintings on sheets of canvas - each is at a FIXED price of only $50 - this is the only way you can really get an original painting from me for that price, and these tend to sell instantly, so grab one if you can...

To see ALL of the minis (and other original paintings) - just click directly below:

Or indivdually.....

& "Eyes as Green as Jade" ORIGINAL MINI PAINTING

Also a reminder that I will be at Mega-Con in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center this Friday-Saturday-Sunday. I'll be at booth 713 - a 10'x10' corner booth near the middle of all the action. I will have never-before-seen original paintings, tons of stretched (very rare for me, lol) limited edition canvas prints, lots of matted prints, mini prints, big prints, stickers, puzzles, keychains, books, and the debut of my new line of STATUES! I'll be there of course, signing prints, signing autographs, posing for photos, chatting, etc.:

I've actually painted a few other new original paintings this week, but they are coming with me to MEGA-CON, so people who come there will get first dibs on them ;) If I have any left when I come back, I will post them up in my eBay store. And of course I'll have prints, etc. of them either way.

In other fun news, hey - I finally bought another guitar! I used to play guitar (electric mostly) quite a lot, when I was a teenager. One day my family's house caught fire (I accidentally did it, left a candle burning), and my guitar was burned up pretty good. I'd still play it, but it gave me electrical shocks periodically, lol, so eventually I got rid of it. So finally I've got a new guitar, a lovely acoustic/electric one from Luna (they make smaller, more lightweight guitars for girls like me with tiny hands), this one here:

It came in the mail today, and it is gorgeous and plays beautifully. Yay!

I'd better get back to getting ready for Mega-Con....

Pretty guitar!

I went and bought a guitar stand that holds 3. I have 2 electrics and 1 acoustic. I'm buying a cello on Friday too!

OMG that is SUCH a beautiful guitar!! It makes my fingers itch to play! I played from the time I was 12 yrs old, and for graduation from high school I got an electric. I still have my acoustic but it's not really playable anymore. I always had the same problem as you, I have incredibly small hands, and bar chords were so hard for me, and people used to tell me I couldn't play (mostly guys), then I'd start to play and they'd shut up...lol. Gosh I miss it. Congrats on your new baby, it's BEAUTIFUL and I bet it sounds like heaven!!!

You will LOVE your Luna guitar, Jasmine! I bought mine a little over a year ago and I just adore it. It keeps its tune beautifully, it has great tone, and is a dream to play. I have the olive green one with the Grimshaw fairies on it.

Oh! I almost picked that one, lol - I didn't know if I wanted the Grimshaw, or the Mermaid, or the Lady, and eventually picked the Lady, since that has always been one of my favourite poems and paintings.

It is a beautiful guitar, so well-crafted, and it has a wonderful sound.

The guitar looks nice, I'd be interested to hear your impressions of the sound (well, by which I mean your thoughts on it, heh). I've got my eye on a Seagull acoustic. That's my favorite, though I recently was given a Martin/Sigma acoustic with a teensy bit of damage to the shell, and I like it pretty well.

I honestly didn't know you played, or at least didn't remember. Nifty!

It really is a great guitar! I've never had an acoustic before, I was always electric - I prefer the sound of acoustics though. I had problems in the past holding and playing acoustics because my dad's acoustic was huge - way too big for me, and that turned me off. Then when I saw the Luna line with the "made for girls" sizing, lol - I knew I needed one!

I haven't played for ages, so I've got to teach myself a few things again, but I'm remembering it all pretty quick. Gotta get back my finger callouses though.....

I was watching Miami Ink last night and I saw a woman getting your painting "La Finestra Verde" tattooed on her back. It didn't really do your artwork justice, if you ask me.
Congrats on the guitar. My stepfather makes acoustic guitars in his spare time. He's sold about 5 already.
But anyways, have a good Valentines Day!

Hi Abby!

Lol - I saw that!! I was changing channels around, and then voila - "La Finestra Verde!!!". Nutty! I thought it was funny that they were complaining about having to tattoo faeries, but then later that same episode they talked about how they liked doing angel tattoos. I yelled at them "They're both pictures of girls with wings, geez!"
