I was just looking at Celebration's calendar of events and I realized that I'll be missing the Celebration Art Festival by two days =( Two days! That's just not fair =P |
Oh well. Maybe I'll try to apply for a booth next year! I don't know how well my artwork would do in that sort of venue, but I bet it would be fun either way. It's only a block away from my apartment, so it would be silly for me not to enter.
I went to the Plaza Art Fair here in Kansas City last year. It's "Invitation Only" for the artists (very exclusionist and pretentious - needless to say I've never been invited to show, lol). There were a few things I liked there (a lot of it was rather dull sort of things that I would classify more as interior-decor rather than art per se...), and it was a lot of fun, but I was very disappointed to note that the vast majority of the artists were not local to Kansas City, let alone the Midwest. I didn't quite see the point of a "local" art show where most of the artists were from New York or L.A. Eh.
