I'm back! Safe & Sound =) [Oct. 15th, 2006|10:35 am]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
We're back from vacation!!!

We had a wonderful time - we were on a 7 Day Disney Cruise (got a GREAT deal!!) - visiting Key West, the Cayman Islands, Mexico, Bahamas, etc. We had such a great time, relaxing, fun, exciting, it was great!

Sorry there are no photos - my camera conked out on me shortly before the trip and I haven't bought another one yet.

We did so much stuff! It's all a blur. Went to Xcaret, saw beautiful ruins, animals, swam through an underground river, ate great Mexican food (they made us special vegetarian stuff even), drank some tequila drinks that came in actual hollowed out pineapples, laid in hammocks at Rum Point in the Cayman Islands, swam in various oceans, saw lots of wild ocean critters (fishes, crabs, a beautiful stingray, flying fish, etc.), went to the Key West Winery shop (and bought Key Lime wine and Hot Sun wine which is Tomato/Jalapeno wine), bought Tortuga rum cake, hot sauce from Hell in Grand Cayman (that's the name of the town there), visited a really bizarre Mexican cemetery, went on tons of different boats, had a couple of relaxing days at sea on the cruise boat, ate lots of food, drank lots of drinks, watched Pirates of the Caribbean 2 in the boat's movie theatre while actually IN the Caribbean, lol, I forget what all we did! Ironically we also sailed into the West Indies on Columbus day....

But now is the time to work. I have so much work to catch up on, the next couple of months are going to be tiring, but I'm excited about it. Mostly involves lots of painting ;P I'm also looking forward to having my tent at the Sarasota Medieval Fair.

If I owe you an email, please bear with me - we have a week's worth to catch up on. We've got the orders sorted out already (Matt got that together very quickly!) but as far as the rest of the emails, it might take me a little while. I'm booked up on commissions through March of 2007, and I have several other originals I need to work on too!

I will be balancing my computer work and my painting work throughout the day - if you'd like to peek in on desk while I paint, you can watch me HERE ON MY WEBCAM.

All right, enough stalling - I'd better get to work!

It really was a wonderful time.

Yep, already getting slammed with seasonal orders, and it's only October. Busy is good though!

Was this your first time on a Disney 7-day cruise? Was it on the Magic? So much fun!

Also, your mention of the Sarasota Medieval Fair brings back good memories. We used to go there on field trips in elementary and middle school.

Yep! The other three we did this year were all 3-day or 4-days. All are fun, but gotta say I loved the 7-day Magic - I really felt like I was "getting away" from it all as opposed to a weekend getaway.

It was funny, when we disembarked at Port Canaveral we saw the Wonder also at the port - it was fresh back from drydock (getting upgrades) and back home in Florida!

Re: fun!

Xcaret was so wonderful! We only had a few hours there (had to get back to the boat) - I would love to go back and do more things there. There is the Grand Occidental Xcaret all-inclusive resort right next to it (food & drinks all included, and entrance to Xcaret) that I've heard very good things about. I think I might try to go stay there someday and enjoy the park at my leisure.

Definitely a very inspiring place!!

We did have a lot of fun. The hard part is transitioning back into "work" mode right after such a long "play" mode. We're already getting slammed with Holiday orders, even though it's a couple months still until Xmas.

Welcome back sweetie!! I have really missed you while you've been gone. I'm glad that you had such a great time while you were away.

Try not to work too hard sweetie!

Good luck with all your work. You sound very busy! It's the same here. It's great when you can do the job you love doing the most :D

Very true!

The theatre on the boat has a full bar at the concession stand too - Matt & I got Rum Runners and drank them while we watched the movie. A pirate-y time indeed!

I felt like I was in another world!!

I'm not a very strong swimmer, but we had very good lifejackets so it wasn't scary at all. It was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.
