Hope everybody has been well. We didn't really have an internet connection out there, so I haven't been able to keep up with LiveJournal. If anybody has anything important that they need to tell me, please email me.
Had a wonderful, wonderful time. Learned a lot about oil painting, got to spend a lot of time with Larry and the other artists (there were 13 of us total) all out in the wilderness. A very inspirational time.
Very very busy though - we worked sometimes 16 hours a day. I'd say I only averaged literally 4 hours of sleep per night. This was not a "vacation" but rather a very intensive art experience!! If anything, it was even more work than I'd normally be doing at home, lol, but it was all wonderful.
I really enjoyed learning to paint with oil paints. I'm not going to give up acrylic paints, but I am definitely going to be trying my hand at some oils. I've been planning a portrait of Marie Antoinette that I was going to do in acrylics, but I think I might try it in oil paints instead. I have to buy some supplies at the art store later today, but after that you'll be able to watch me work on my webcam.
For now I desperately need to spend a day or so going through the emails that have piled up in the meantime.
Also due to scheduling conflicts I am unfortunately NOT going to be at Necronomi-Con in Tampa this year after all. I will be there next year though.
HOWEVER - do not despair, Floridians - I will be at this year's Sarasota Renaissance Faire (click HERE for more info!) on this November 11th & 12th (the first weekend only) at their "VIP/Celebrity Tent". I will have a huge selection of originals, merchandise, prints, canvas prints & more available and I will be signing autographs, etc. Mark your calendars! =)
One more thing before I go attack emails - one of my original paintings from a few years back - "Fairy Cluster" - is up for re-sale by the collector on eBay. You can see their auction here:
"Fairy Cluster" ORIGINAL PAINTING from 2004
I can attest that this is indeed the original painting, being sold by the original owner. It is a very good, detailed piece and is even featured in my "Fairy" art book. I thought I'd post the link here in case anybody is interested!
Crazily enough, in about a week Matt & I are going out of town for a week's vacation! I had booked the trip before I had known about Larry's art workshop and when I signed up for that, it didn't occur to me how close together the trips would be. That leaves me a week to do a lot more serious painting before we leave. When Matt & I are gone my eBay store will be put on pause, but my auctions and website will remain as normal (with a short shipping delay until we return).
Okay, back to work.
