GOBLINS!! [May. 11th, 2006|09:00 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
This one turned out GREAT!

It is one of my best to date! Seriously, this is one of the best paintings I've ever done. So much work, days of detail, goblins, goblins, goblins and WOW that is a gorgeous Elizabethan period dress. This thing is flippin' huge too, it covers my whole table. I had Matt take a photo of me standing next to it to show on the auction for everybody to see how big it is! This is truly one of those pieces I wish everyone could enjoy in person because it is amazing, if I do say so myself.

"Princess of the Goblins"

Whew! Enjoy!

One of the next couple days I will need to take an "email day" and focus on the huge pile of emails I have. If I owe you an email, LJ or Myspace response, etc. please bear with me =)

Have a fantastic evening, everybody!

Wow, you really captured the essence of the Eliabethan dresses in this piece! I love how the goblins comprise the background... this makes for a stunning portrait! Great job!! :D

Thank you very very much! It's a nearly impossible dress - I couldn't imagine wearing something like that with so many jewels - eek!

Wow, Jasmine, that looks great! I like the different style of face you used on this character, and the monochromatic background. I love that little crow skull person at the left, especially. And her dress is very Renaissance splendoriffic!!

Thank you Renee!! I'm really happy with how it turned out. I almost thought about keeping it for myself =/ Well, at least it's getting lots of bids, lol.

Thank you Annie! Green Men (GreenMans?) and goblins are two of my favourite things, I'm glad I could combine them aesthetically.

I'd agree - one of your best! The light reflecting on the dress embroidery is wonderfully done. Woo-hoo!

Look at the detail on that dress!!! Wow! I can see this hanging in some rich person's home easily! (I wish I was rich...lol). This is so beautiful, Jasmine, you should be really proud of it!!

Very nice, the detail and work in this painting is amazing, shows a more mature and serious side to you as artist, just brilliant :-)

Thank you Dawn! The cool thing about working on a painting this big is the amount of area I get to spend on the eyes - when they are so big I can put a lot of detail in them, they are usually my favourite part to paint.

Wow! That is gorgeous! How do you not smear the paint with your elbows and such while you paint???? I'm going to try to come see you at Avalon! Weeeee!

Woohoo! I hope to see you there - I'd like to meet you!

Actually, I had paint all over my elbows, hehe. Pretty much though I use a hairdryer to speed the drying time of each layer (they are fluid acrylics), and by the time they're dry I can lean on it if I need to.
