EarthViewer 3d [Jan. 29th, 2003|08:15 pm]

Wow - I'm at Kachina's house. I'm on James' computer (Chi is still at work but she should be home soon). He just got a new NVIDIA graphics card that came with a trial version of EarthViewer 3d.

It's one of the coolest programs ever! It at first looks like a little digital globe. But... you can zoom in on it and it's actually an entire map of the world pieced together from satellite photos taken last year! The areas around most US cities are in very high-resolution. The zoom is amazing! You zoom in smoothly from first a tiny globe, then North America, then all the way up to seeing tons of details. EXAMPLE: I zoomed in enough to see Gristle (my old car) parked in my parking lot! We zoomed into Epcot and we could see the aerial views of the pavillions. We looked at Disneyland in California and we saw the palm tree that James & Kachina affectionately named "Fuzzy." We zoomed into the roof of our future apartment building in Celebration! Matt found his old house in O'Fallon, Illinois and even found the swimming pool he used to go to there! It's amazing =)

I need a new graphics card anyway - I think I'll try to get one that comes with EarthViewer 3D!
