Painting!!!! [May. 1st, 2005|10:12 am]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Good morning everyone!

Happy May Day / Beltane!

It's kind of a dreary rainy day today, but it's still very pretty.

I'm painting, as usual ;) I'm still working on Queen of Bones. I've decided to give her a Bone Dragon behind her!

I'm also thinking about painting some little "mini" paintings to put in my eBay store at a cheap price (well, maybe $50 or something). I got an email the other day from one of my old customers from a few years ago who was sad because they couldn't really buy my originals any more, and I thought that might be a way for more people to afford some original artwork from me. Or maybe I'll put up some small drawings or sketches. We'll see =)

Oh! Remember the commission I was working on the other day with the warrior girl and the copper dragon? The customer said it was fine with her if I offered prints of it, so you'll definitely see those from me later tonight - it's such a good painting =) I might even offer it as a canvas print too.

Well, that's pretty much all that's going on here - work work work as usual. I made some pasta with vodka sauce last night, man it was yummy!!! We bought a ton of groceries yesterday, and our refrigerator & pantry are now very well stocked. I always feel rich when I have a lot of food in the house for some reason. I think I'm craving healthy home-made food since I've been going to restaurants non-stop for the past few weeks while our guests were here, hehe. I do actually eat healthily at restaurants too, typically whatever vegetarian/vegan selections are available at most places double as the "healthy alternative" entrees, but still I feel like I need to eat at home for a while, lol.

It's very exciting - next month my sister Amber & her husband Chris will be living here with us in our house! Just temporarily of course, until their new apartment is ready, and the job situation is sorted out. Still though, it will be a lot of fun!!!

I've been thinking about my tarot deck again. I have started two decks in the past seven years or so - one was for school, and the other was one I was thinking about publishing. That one just started going off in a weird direction and I scrapped it part way through, and sold off all the paintings on eBay, LOL. I would like to maybe try it again taking a different approach, maybe not limiting myself to the traditional 78 card deck, maybe instead coming up with my own system of divination cards of some sort. Hmmm. I've had a couple of different people interested, so we'll see. I'll let you all know how it progresses, and IF it progresses.

Hehe, I've rambled on for long enough, I'd better start painting!! You can look at me paint HERE.

Wow. I had vodka too...tee hee. Not alot, though...a shot. Then when I got home I ate some chocolate and drank a shot of whiskey with orange juice in a coffee cup down in under 15 sec. lol I didn't feel good after that. So I learned my lesson...no mixing food and no drinking stuff down really fast. Your Queen of Bones is turning out really awesome! A tarot deck would be so cool!!! It's real sunny here and it is 67 degrees! YAY! lol It's real nice and breezy outside too. I have the windows open. But I have to go watch a play at school so have fun painting!

Vodka sauce is very good, surprisingly. It's basically a tomato-cheese sauce with vodka to flavour it. Since it's cooked, there's no real alcohol content (but hey, I had a glass of wine with it!).

Lol - I remember that pesky devil.......

There were about six of them that I actually sold, I think - I know I have records of them somewhere....

I just posted Queen of Bones - I'll make the official journal post in a few minutes.... it did turn out pretty damn cool.....

Mini paintings would be BRILLIANT!!!
My friend Kipling (West) did paintings for Tarot cards...she did the Halloween Tarot deck. Have you seen it? It's SUPER COOL! I bet someone would be interested in publishing it for you. Although I do think it was SUPER hard work for her to do all those paintings (like you said 78 paintings would be involved...) but it turned out really cool!
Here's a link.

Yeah, it's my favourite deck!! When I was in Connecticut I was taking a Tarot class & the store got that deck in & I was like "THIS IS IT!!" and then when I moved to Seattle, I decided to write her an email about how much I love her work (like I loved her Ouija boards she did too), and we started writing back & forth & then come to find out we BOTH were living in Seattle, so we just got together & then I introduced her to more of my friends, and we kind of all hung out a bit while she was here (I made her a couple of tops too, because she had this FAB fabric she had saved up). She moved to Canada though a while ago.

I'd love to see a divination deck by you!! It doesn't have to be like traditional tarot at all. I think there are other fairy related decks that are completely different.
