Good morning! [Feb. 22nd, 2005|12:56 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Yay! Today I am feeling much, much better, that's for sure!! Another beautiful day outside, we've been planning how to set up our backyard. It's not a very big yard, but it's very private and walled in on all sides like a courtyard, and it is great to make a nice tropical hideaway. We are going to put flat stones/tiles down through a lot of it, with the edges all done up in tall tropical plants and focus on plants that have a lot of flowers, etc. We already have some nice palm trees, cycads, and hibiscus, etc. which we'll just move around a little bit. Also we want to make room for an herb garden, which will probably save me a small fortune (I spend a lot of money on buying fresh herbs!).

I'm going to eat a quick bite and then I'll be painting! I'm working on a very large fairy-queen type painting using the lovely lindseylovesyou as a model. You'll be able to watch me HERE in a little while after I'm done eating (Quorn Vegetarian Nuggets - they're delicious!).

My internet connection has been dodgy all day - they are working on the cable lines =P So please excuse the webcam if it goes down a few times, it keeps kicking me off!

oooh cool! so im trying to remember, is it a cement pathway out there right now or is it blocks that you can move easily? are you going to be like tearing it up back there and totally redoing it? its a great area, im sure once your done the neighbors will be peeking over the wall all jealous :) an herb garden sounds wonderful, fresh herbs are so pricey! i have yet to be successful with growing herbs...i actually was able to use some mint that i grew in some iced tea but i dont have the greenest thumb in the world, do ok with veggies and flowers though. i also have deer that like to come up and eat the new growth because it must be quite tasty to them >:[ do you have any pesky garden intruders to worry about down there once you start growing the herby goodness? im glad you have a nice garden to work in, its such a great way to relax and kind of meditate and be close to bugs :)

There is the concrete solid patio under where our gazebo and stuff is (where we had dinner outside, etc.) and then there is a concrete sidewalk that goes back to our garage. We'll probably just leave those there (it would be a hassle to get a sledgehammer and knock all of that out, ugh) and fill in the areas that are all woodchips now with the flat tiles. I think that would be the best way to do it! I'd like to have the sidewalk there because sometimes we get torrential rains and I want a good walkway to the garage. It should be pretty cool when we're done with it - we probably won't actually get it done for a couple of months, lol, but we're just planning it out now. I'll post "before & after" shots of it!

oh ok, i thought it was like solid concrete but my memory is not always the best. it sounds like it will be really pretty and relaxing when you are done. no sledgehammer eh? the breaking part would be fun but the cleanup surely wouldnt :D flash has some kind of major projects he wants to do around here this summer that involve digging up lots of plants and moving very heavy cement blocks and im really not looking forward to it :P it will be nice when done though. glad you are feeling better!!!!

Lol - that is awesome!!!

I haven't seen the old episodes from the original series - I have them coming though from Netflix!

The new ones that are on TV now are the Degrassi the New Generation - it is the children of the original Degrassi people, and they go to Degrassi. A lot of the old characters are there now in the new show (same actors!) and are the parents, teachers, etc. My sister, Matt & I like to watch the new ones a lot, we are big dorks!!!!

I'm glad you are feeling better! Paul is sick now too. Blah. Sounds lovely. You & Renee seem to both be on the same idea this year--re-doing your yard/garden.

Your garden sounds nice, thats good that its kind of private, I wish our garden was! Its so annoying in the summer because I'm not a big fan of the beach so if I want to go sunbathing I go in the garden in my bikini and next door and the house behind us can see me. Wouldn't be so bad if the lady that lives behind us (her garden backs onto ours) didn't have a son a year older than me. Last summer he spent the whole time peering over the fence and asking me out. Nice lol.

I keep forgetting to email you those photos! I'm going to write it down now and stick it to my screen so I'll remember when I get back from college tomorrow hehe.

You may want to go to home depot and see if they have any of the geougeous camilla trees that we have here
they are incredicle and remind me of painting the roses red.
i think i am going to get one for the nunez environmental team to plant on campus.. i am the president...heheheh
i want to do an alice theme garden were people can read to children
anyway thought you might like this plant it is covered in huge flowers
also you might like the hibiscus trees which have alot of flowers and are tropical and easy to care for , come in many golors.
love gina
