Sounds like you guys had a blast!! I'm glad you two work so hard, You deserve a break!! xoxoxoxoox
Ya! Painting Machine!! LOL! I'll be peeking in on that webcam to see what your up too. I wonder if I can have my webcam running and still be able to see yours too while I'm painting? I'll have to give that a try next time!
Oh I know the flowers are starting to bloom here too! So pretty!!!! I'll have to take some pictures too. Can't wait to see your pictures!!
Oh yes!!! I have had your cam open several times while I'm painting - I like having as many friends' paintcams up as I can while I work, hehe - makes me feel like I've got company!
Sounds fab...you two deserve some time off to just enjoy each other. I'm gonna have to take a peek on the webcam soon...and post the photos!!
Have a lovely day!
I forgot to send Theo's bear. I will do it today. (can you send it to him?) sorry about that. Kids have had that sore throat etc... thingy that is going around.
Okay painting machine. I still want to see your working conditions. We have to make sure that you don't really have those little fairy's- elf's etc. . working hard labor. HeHe
Oh!!! No problem - send it whenever - thank you so much Kim!!! I'll be seeing him on Easter, so anytime before then I can just bring it along =)
Sounds like an incredible V-day!!
Sorry about the contacts--that really sucks. I hope you haven't thrown the old ones completely out yet!
It was just a vanity pair - I like buying different coloured or special effect lenses, hehe. I still have some others, so I'm fine. Thank goodness - I'm blind without them!
awww what a lovely valentines day ^_^ By george Jasmine i think you may drink more than i do O_o And you're so itty bitty! You must get smashed!! I'm sure we'd have way too much fun drinking hehehe
LOL! Actually, it's quite the opposite - I barely even got tipsy, hehe - I can outdrink anybody I know. Kind of annoying really if I'm actually trying to get tipsy - it ends up being really expensive if I go out, lol. Matt is completely the other way - one beer and he's already there (that's why he absolutely can't drink anything if we go out - he has to drive home!).
Azaeleas blooming in February, how wonderful!!! There is nothing blooming in Detroit right now, so enjoy all the flowers for us northerners. Tee-hee! :-)
It's funny - I thought that they were just plain bushes (we bought this house last June so it's our first winter here), but then I woke up one morning and they were covered with blooms! Our hibiscus is taking off too!
oh what a lovely day it sounds like you had. We have also been having gloriuos weather. it does tend to start up my allergies when the plants start growing again but that will be relieved when we go to cali because the cool weather tends to keep the pollen at bay...hahahaha..i made a pun at bay. ok nevermind.
hurray-we get to see little theodore in just a couple of weeks. I haven't seen him in FOREVER. I didn't really get to see him at the wedding last year because..well i dont remember much of anything that happened there. but i am sure he is just as adorable as ever.
smiles for you and matt
Bay - lol - you're awful, Jillianne!!! >^___^<
Awww! He's turned into such a little gentleman! He still has a crazy head of hair too - he's had two haircuts so far, which is a lot for such a little guy.
Unfair! Can't get your cam at this new job. ;_;
Eh, there's other jobs out there.....
Sounds like a lovely time!
And I can't wait to see all these pictures! :)
What a fabulous day!!!!!!! It sounded perfect!
I can't wait to see some photos! Especially of adorable Theodore!
lol, when are you NOT Painting Machine Jasmine?? You are so incredible ;)
Cool you guys had a fun day together! OMG I wanted some of those drinks *WAH* what am I doing in a non-alcoholic household anyway? lol! Hmmm sangria! Ok glad you will be painting a lot now since you've partied without me :p
Hey - you're saving a lot of money! I totalled up how much I spend each year on drinks or the liquor store in Quicken and it was shocking, hehe.
sounds like a wonderful valentines day! MMmmmmm key lime martini..never tried that! sounds good :)

Jasmine Becket-Griffith Instructional DVD
What brand acrylic paint do you use to blend with, and do you blend acrylics wet into wet or do you layer your highlights like contours?
I've tried figuring this out from your webcam but it's very blurry and hard to tell what technique you use. I'm not trying to copy you, I just would like to know how you achieve the smooth blends.
I think it would be great if you could get an instructional DVD made of you painting.

Re: Jasmine Becket-Griffith Instructional DVD
In answer to your question - I exclusively use "fluid" acrylics, the kind that come in bottles rather than the toothpaste-like tubes. I have a very specific technique I use for painting to get the effects I like and fluid acrylics work the best! Specifically I would suggest Golden brand fluid acrylics - they sell them up at http://www.misterart.com
or at most art stores. MisterArt has the best prices though, and they carry larger sizes which make them waaay cheaper by the ounce. Golden has the highest pigment load for the fluid acrylics, and it gives the brightest colours. Some of the pigments are kind of transparent though, so for those I usually mix with an opaquer covering paint like Creamcoat.
My technique for acrylics is to paint in many, many very thin layers. Nope - I don't use any kind of extender to slow drying - quite the opposite actually - I paint a very thin layer and then I get out my hairdryer and speed-dry it immediately, and then start the next layer. With the fluid acrylics, the paint almost dries as soon as it touches the canvas and the hairdryer will almost "heat-set" it immediately so it's ready for the next layer. So basically I don't do any blending on the canvas itself - I just blend each new colour layer on my pallette, changing it slightly from the last layer, to give the illusion of blending. I work horizontally on a table rather than vertically on an easel, so the fluids won't run.
A DVD would be fun, but I can't imagine how expensive and time-consuming the production & distribution would be, hehe - maybe someday!
hey jasmine!! man it sounds like you guys had a great time! two things!
1. they are out of incense so i have to go in next week(the girl said she was placing the order today or tomorrow)damnit i need the smellies now!!!!
2.when i was in there this old hippie dude asked if that was my little black van out in the parking lot and he asked if the sticker on the back was me hee, hee :) its the empty tomb sticker. anyways he said he liked it a lot and it was very cool, i told him my friend painted it. so there is at least one old hippie guy here that likes your work heh!
Hi Alex!!! No problem - I still have a little left that my sister gave me for Christmas I can use in the meantime (she got me some "Ginger Ale" incense and it's awesome - smells just like ginger ale!).
Lol! That is awesome!!!! Hey - she does look a bit like you!
Jasmine, I know this might sound like a weird comment, but I'm watching you paint and...
...why do you take a hair-dryer to your canvas? Can't that actually ruin it? Doesn't it smell of like, burnt paint or anything?
- Curious, Hazeleyedfae
Hehe, oh no! Not at all - real canvas can withstand amazing temperatures. For example canvas giclees (like the canvas prints I make) are actually cooked in the oven to "heat set". A lot of the "Genesis" brand paints and varnishes require cooking in an oven or using their special heat-set dryer (which looks to me like a very expensive very hot hairdryer) to "set" the paints or inks.
The acrylics I use don't have any kind of scent dry or when I bake them in the oven (with the prints that is, not the paintings - although I'm sure it's the same). I typically use the hairdryer on the "low" setting anyways though - if I run it too much on "high" it will burn out quicker.
Now, paper or watercolours - that's a different story, lol! Heat can damage paper (and burn it even, of course) and watercolours will run like crazy if you put that kind of fast moving air on them.
