Work, work, work! [Feb. 4th, 2005|12:50 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
I got so much work done yesterday! Cleared out some older emails (plenty left though >__<), backed up files, ordered more shipping supplies, sent out submissions for a couple of book projects, and well - I guess that's all, but man it took forever! I kept thinking I could get it done in time to paint, but it took allll day and allll evening. =P

Right now though, I'm setting up at my art desk to paint! First I will be hand-embellishing some first-edition canvas prints (for my new "Field of Poppies" and for "Belladonna's Gift"!), and then I will start a new original painting. I have a lot of ideas lined up - not sure which one I will choose. At Matt's suggestion I was thinking about doing a painting featuring the little brown girl with the blue face paint who's hiding in Queen Mab (hiding by the Greenman in this detail - here. Maybe her and her family in the woods (I think they're little brownies or something woodsy/tribal like that). I also want to do a new portrait of Elizabeth Bathory too, So we'll see!

At any rate, you can watch me HERE on my webcam as always!

Isn't she a cutie? As soon as I painted her, Matt said "Paint one just of her and her friends". And then I got several emails and comments along the same lines, so I thought I'd better, hehe!

Elizabeth Bathory is a bath of red virgin blood.
I tried drawing that a few weeks ago but it's hard for me to draw someone lying down :(

I did a portrait style painting of her a few years ago, so I thought it was time for another. She's a very intriguing character!

Yeah, I think a bathtub of blood is definitely in order for her - she was an awful lady!

I have seen that painting of yours. The painting reminded me of another painting by someone who I use to be in school with. It was one of the first paintings of yours I ever saw.

Yay!! I LOVED your last Elizabeth Bathory piece! Her whole story just facinates me. I've got a whole book about her called "Dracula was a woman" LOL! I'd love to be able to paint her someday. I guess I could......Elizabeth Bathory if she were a cat! In a big fancy gown with a cat head and paws :D .............*Grabs painting idea notebook and writes this idea down*

Thank you, Carrie!!!! I read a book about her when I was a teenager - I think it was called "Blood Countess" or "Countess of Blood" or something like that.

I would love to find out more of the little brown girl. I bet there is a huge story behind her :)
And like always, you will have better ideas than we all together. I'm curious what will come out!
Have a great weekend!

I don't suppose you know another way of getting the webcam working without having to download yahoo messenger do you? I had to uninstall yahoo and now I can't view the cam :(

Firefox if possible. I come out in hives using Internet Explorer these days hehe.

Thanks!

Ah, it won't run on Firefox or Netscape.

Nope, I've tried over 15 different webcam hosts (every single one I could find using Google's search engine) and none other than Yahoo will either #1 work with my own firewall, #2 broadcast 24/7, #3 allow enough viewers at a time to accommodade the traffic I get.

And since 95% of my visitors use a compatible browser, it's the best I can do for now, unless I buy my own server or something.

Thank you, Jaishi!!!

Oh! She was a truly terrible person - the first "infamous" female serial killer, and she was a countess - she'd murder her servants and take baths in their blood to try to stay young & beautiful, hehe. She killed hundreds of people - here's a link about her:

http://hjem.get2net.dk/the_cellar/bathory.htm

::shudder::

The blood thing has a lot of vampire connotations, kind of like the Vlad the Impaler/Dracula thing. There were some really cheezy horror movies made about her in the 1960s/70s, hehe.
