Painting!!!!! [Nov. 13th, 2004|09:53 am]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
I'm painting on my new Swamp Fairy! She is turning out so beautifully, this is definitely one of my best pieces. I will probably finish her later today!

Since she's so large and detailed, she'll be going in my eBay store at a fixed price, hehe. I will offer "sale" prints of her right away though, for those of you who are interested =) I'll also put my "Alchemist's Revenge" prints up very soon as well.

Our neighbors came over yesterday and asked us if it would be okay if they were to replace our current shared 6' PVC privacy fence with a 6' stucco wall! I would definitely like that, lol. Especially since they are paying for it, hehe. We talked to them for a long time - they are finishing off their third story, which we found very interesting since they have the exact same floorplan of house that we do. We were thinking about doing the same with our third floor (there's a lot of room up there, and it has nice dormer windows and everything all setup already), so they're going to fill us in on how much it all costs, etc. If I start itching for more room, I would much rather do that than go through the hassle of moving again! They also told us that our garage (it's a big detached garage) is zoned to be added onto like a garage-apartment (with a second story), which also sounds like kind of a fun idea, in the future......maybe for art storage/printing stuff, etc...... we'll see......

Anyways! I'm off to paint! You can watch me HERE!

Thats great that you can have more room added to your house, it sounds big! The apartment above the garage sounds like a good idea, my friend has that in her house as she lives with her parents and her sister, so now her parents live in the main house and her sister and her live in the bit above the garage! They have their own kitchen, bathroom etc and they can sneak people in late at night without their parents knowing hehe!

The Swamp faery was looking lovely when I was watching the webcam :) I was tuned in for a while actually as I was on this Connexions website and I had to wait AGES for an advisor to come online and chat to me and couldn't leave the comp incase they signed in so I watched you paint lol!

Garage apartments run anywhere from $700 to $1,100 to rent in Celebration, depending on the space (studio, one bedroom, two (!) bedroom) and the market.

Ah yes! Very true! We'd probably use it for family members and for ourselves though, hehe. Rather than selling our current house and buying a bigger one in the near future, we're instead planning on just expanding ours as much as possible, lol.

It can also knock the value of your home upwards of $100,000 extra dollars, which makes the cost involved a seem easier to bear :)

That's a definite plus! And then finishing off our third storey would give us an extra 400-600 square feet too, which can't hurt.... (does some calculations in her head) - woohoo!!!

Third finished third story rooms are called bonus rooms...I LOVE them! There are some beautiful ones in South Village, with two closets (one for clothes and one big one for storage) and full bathrooms.

Doesn't Matt want to build a workshop of his own up there? Or was that in the garage?

Very cool that you're getting a better wall!

Oh, by the way, I still wanna play minigolf with you two - especially now that the weather's getting reasonably not-hot! If you ever have a couple of hours and the hankering to putt, lemme know?

I'm going to see the fireworks in town tonight - maybe I'll run into ya. :)

Hey Brian!

Oh yes - Matt is going to finish off the actual garage part of our garage into his frameshop/woodshop (for both my art business and for fun!). If we add another storey on top we'd probably use it for storage or for keeping shipping materials or something like that. My business stuff has a habit of spilling over into our actual living quarters, hehe, so it would be nice to have a space set aside just for it! Now, when we finish off our third storey, we will be transforming that into a big home tbeatre/media room type thing - it'd be just perfect for that!

Certainly! We're all about putt=putt, hehe. We've got a couple of big orders to get through today & tomorrow, but after that we will be free (Matt can give you a call!). The weather has been absolutely beautiful!

It really has been! :) I can be free Thursday daytime, or Friday daytime, or Saturday morning/noonish... and then after that I'm still putting my schedule together. :) I really want to go try Fantasia Gardens!

Good luck with the orders!

Holy Cow! I just got this comment Brian, lol - I'm sorry I didn't get to you earlier! This is probably really old too, since you're probably not talking about this Thursday (seeing as it's Thanksgiving and all, hehe). How is next week looking for you?

Oh man! I missed out on webcam time ;_; I was dying to see this giant painting you are working on, but I guess I will have to wait until the auction goes up. Is the fact that you live in Florida a reason behind the swamps in your paintings? Also, did you grow up in Florida?

I hope the painting sells well! I know it will :-D

I've always been fascinated with swamps - I started painting them more after I started visiting Louisiana & Florida, etc. I'm actually from Kansas City, Missouri, lol. We just moved here about a year and a half ago, but since I've been here the landscapes in my paintings have definitely turned more Floridian, hehe.
