Painting! [Oct. 21st, 2004|12:10 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Let me see, we went to the bank, the post office, and then we went out to Michael's this morning to stock up on art supplies (I needed to pick up a big stretched canvas for a commission), and now I'm back home and ready to paint! My eyes don't seem to be bothering me so much today, ::knock on wood::, so I'll hopefully be able to finish this big painting and get started on a new commission! You can watch me finish up "Dia de los Muertos" on my webcam HERE!

Are you going to paint in any sugar skulls? I have a ton of orders to make them... unfortunately EVERYONE who ordered wants tons of colour. >_

I'm a massive fan of your art, and am always checking to see your new work. It's nice to see that you're on LiveJournal so all your fans can talk to you! Keep up the beautiful paintings...and hopefully one day I might have enough to actually buy one!

Very pleased to meet you! Welcome to my LiveJournal! I'll try to be entertaining, lol. Mostly I sit here and paint and paint and paint, so my posts are sometimes a little repetitive, hehe. I'm always more than happy to post what I've been working on though, and I'm happy to know that people enjoy looking at what I've created =)

I don't know this for sure, but I think that the reason you get headaches and your vision looks weird when you wear your glasses, is because you don't wear them that often. Whenever I get new glasses, even if they are the same strength, they do that to me for the first few days. And if I put a pair of my old glasses on it happens with them. I think it has to do with the way they sit differently over your eyes or something? I really don't know.

I'm so excited to see this new painting!! I've been checking in on your cam to see how it's coming. (I watch you while I talk to Matt. I'll make him tell you to wave at me next time, lol!)

I've pretty much always had that problem with glasses, even when I was just a little girl and had to wear them all the time before I was "grownup" enough for contacts, hehe. I get headaches very easily - even wearing my hair in a ponytail for too long with give me one!

eye exercises help, it helps for the eyes not to have to look at something for a long period of time that is always the same distance from the eye, it is important to look up from your work at regular intervals and give your eyes a rest, a real rest, for a certain amount of time every hour.

there are also exercises you can do to stregnthen and protect your eyes, definitely ask your eye doctor about them, if he/she doesn't know about this type of preventative eye care, find an eye doctor who does.

artists and architects and computer users who are looking at things always at the same distance from the eye without looking away in the distance often have this problem, it can be prevented and improved by keeping this in mind and taking certain easy-to-implement steps to rest your eyes at intervals.

Ah yes! I always make it a point to focus on things across the room from me, or out the window every so often while I work - that's what my eye doctor said, hehe. This time though, I think the main problem is actually my allergies. They only come once a year, thank goodness, but they really play havoc with me when they do!

you know my mom is also an artist ( actually, my mom is a much more accomplished artist but she's been painting far longer than I have, LOL, and I am "also" an artist, but anyhow ) my mom also had some similar problems with her eyes so that's why I mention the eye exercises.

one eye doctor helped her very much and she reversed problems with her eyes and stopped any further problems from happening by doing the eye exercises ;-).

glad this was only allergies, i cannot imagine if I had allergies to airborne stuff, I probably wouldn't be able to take the rustic life at the lake in the summertime.

Can't wait to see the new painting. =)

Also, when is the better night to have auction end on ebay? Saturday or Friday? And what time? I was thinking between 9 and twelve, but I thought I'd like your input since you're more experience than I.

Saturdays and Fridays are the worst nights, hehe!

Sundays are good, and pretty much any weekday night. I usually try to get it to be between 6pm-9pm in all time zones. Avoid weekends and holidays - nobody is home to bid, lol!!!

Really?! I had no idea! I wondered why you always start your auctions on weekdays. =\ LOL I thought maybe you just started them any time b/c you already do so well that it doesn't matter. haha

So, Sunday 6pm-9pm eastern standard is a good time?

Thank you so much!!! =D

Aw, thank you Mary!!!! >^__^< This one's a little different than my usuals, so I'm not sure if as many people will like it as much, but I really am proud of how it turned out!

Oh man - I haven't really done a painting of a haunted house yet, but I certainly would like to! Especially after going to Halloween Horror Nights, hehe! I wish I would have gotten an earlier start on my Halloween paintings this year, darn it! Ah well, there's always next year.....
