New Painting!!!! [Oct. 3rd, 2004|08:59 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
I finished a brand new Halloween painting!!!!

This one is a little witchy girl with a Jack O'Lantern - very cute, very seasonal =)

You can see her HERE!

I've been showing Matty how to scan in paintings and list auctions, etc. It will probably take a little while, but I think pretty soon he might be doing great at it!!! >^__^<

Now I'm off to answer some email, check LJ, and eat some dinner. Enjoy!

EDIT

Oh man, I didn't mean to post that four times - LJ is being wonky!!!!

Oh yes!!!! I got my free copy of the new Masters of Fantasy CD-ROM - it is so cool!!! I don't think they're for sale yet up at Epilogue, but they will be soon, I'll post with more info. It's like a little gallery on a CD - some amazing artwork in there. Apparently they chose all five images of mine that I submitted!!! I see three of Delphine's and three of Meredith's as well!!! What a great collection - some of my favourite artists of all time, for sure.

tech question

what kind of scanner do you have? I'm currently working with the world's slowest (and smallest) scanner and it's got moisture inside of it, too, hooray! I'm considering getting a new scanner after christmas but I want to get one I can make prints of my work from.

Thanks for any advice :)

Re: tech question

Hey Sonya! I have an HP Scanjet 4400C, just a regular 8.5x11" scanner. It's very difficult to find a scanner larger than that - I sometimes see 11x17" scanners, but that's still not very large for the price. I suggest buying just a regular sized scanner and using my Special Method of Scanning Big Paintings with a Small Scanner, the tutorial can be found here:

Re: tech question

Ooo thanks for posting that! I couldn't figure out how to get all my pics in as all of them are A3 size so I've been taking digital photos of them which comes out ok, but it can't pick up little little details!
Thanks!

Re: tech question

thanks for your advice and the link. The other biggest problem with my scanner is that each time it scans it's a slightly different color and it's in such a way that it's a BIG pain in the ass to correct in photoshop. for some of my really large pieces I think Paul and I are going to come up with a "studio" style setup for photographing them digitally for use as prints.
If I can find an 11 x 17 scanner that would be nice for all my 11 x 14 paintings....and just being able to scan bigger chunks. I'll have to research price differences but I can also check Paul's tech geek friends, too, I guess...they always seem to have extra crap laying around.

Thanks again :)
