Hehe...hunker down sounds as if it had something to do with pigs. But I'm not entirely sure what.
Hah, maybe he doesn't want to sound like, "Well I'm talking with my brother, and so we're semi negotiating</i>, and umm..." etc.
Hunker down Jasmin!!! Hunker down, its coming!!! :-)
Ok sorry. I hope tomorrow will be good weather too and that you will hardly notice that horrible hurricane :-( It's so unfair that Florida gets hit twice so soon after each other!
Congrats on making Top 10!
I made the second spot
yesterday, I was so happy!! LOL Carrie Hawks was number 8. Can't believe it.
That is neat - it's cool how a lot of my friends are up there already!!
Wow...well Im glad to hear that youre safe now!

"batin' down the hatches!"
That 's a popular one too! My house is so dark inside. All the windows are boarded up. Now we wait. Ugh!
well, i hope you guys stay safe down there during the hurricane...just make sure to HUNKER DOWN. ;)
The good news is that Frances is down to a low Catagory 3 with sustained winds now at 115mph.
Sending you a Hunk o' hunkerin'... LOL!!!
I see Allura is #3 - WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!
I want to set mine up, but I think I'm going to catch a few Zzzz's for awhile since Quinn is home and sleeping...
LOL about the "hunker down". I looked it up once when we were being threatened by a hurricane and found others had the same question. What the heck is "hunker down". I always thought it was a military phrase. The Oxford English Dictionary describes hunker as this:
“squat, with the haunches, knees, and ankles acutely bent, so as to bring the hams near the heels, and throw the whole weight upon the fore part of the feet”. The advantage of this position is that you’re not only crouched close to the ground, so presenting a small target for whatever the universe chooses to throw at you, but you’re also ready to move at a moment’s notice.
You can read about the evolvement to "hunker down" here http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-hun1.htm
LOL I have way too much time on my hands!!!!
LOL! That's hilarious!!!! Hehe, if I keep that up all weekend my ankles are gonna kill me!!!
how exactly do you hunker? i get this mental picture of a lot of people walking around like smeegle from lord of the rings.....
LOL!!! Hehe, 67_chevelle
just posted a definition above - it does kind of sound Gollum-y......
I have had enough of all of this hurricane bussiness!
They CLOSED ALL OF THE BANK'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GRRRRRRRRRRRR So what now the storm won't hit until saturday or sunday its a long weekend and now , it will be even longer o_O
hunker? What an odd word! Judging from Colleen's definition, it seems like it's what we did in elementary school when we would have a tornado drill. Only, don't forget to cover the back of your neck with your hands!
hunker hunker hunker
That's great that 2 of your pics are in the top ten at artwanted!! Hehe Tigerpixie will be pleased!
'Hunker down' what a weird thing to say!! It's so random lol!
Something v mysterious is going on in my room.....before I went out I washed my brushes so they were all clean and left them on the side. Then, when I got back about 15 minutes ago, there was a paintbrush lying on my floor with 'rose' paint on it and thr paint was splattered EVERYWHERE and it had dried, argh!! So I have just been cleaning it all up which is a bit difficult when acrylic has dried on a lamanet floor!
They say it on our Weather Channel too.. it's kind of creepy.
Jasmine, well just you and Matty stay safe when and if she hits, God I hate big storms. Your Friend Sharon...
Here in TN the weatherman's favorite and over used phrase is "Take Cover" during a tornado, they say it thousands of times. The pre-lude phrase to "take cover" is naming a town where the tornado activity is and saying "your under the gun...take cover now"
So I advise you to "hunker down" and then "take cover" hehehee
I see a Girl walking through Water whith is whipped up all around her...She looks innocent enough but her eyes are completely black and have No reflection in them...Her Hair is flying about and her name is Frances..
Hmmm...maybe you should just hunker down until they get done using the phrase, eh? Hardy har...
I hope you guys stay safe!
How did you do your icon? Thats amazing!
I'm a fantasy artist, making my living selling my acrylic paintings, etc. I sometimes use myself as a model (hey, I'm always here and I work for free, lol!). When I do I scan in the painting and take a photo of myself in the same pose and put them together using a little animation program to make it look like I'm turning into the painting (or vice versa!). I have too much fun with it, lol - I've got a bunch of them here: http://www.livejournal.com/allpics.bml?user=jasminetoad
hmmmmm sounds like a red-necked word...Like the word hankerin...lol...If your supposed to hunker down all weekend how the heck can you do any painting?
lol hunker down?? never heard that phrase used before
LOL!!! I have never heard that phrase in my life, hehehe!!!
