I'm painting! [Aug. 14th, 2004|02:43 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Wow - we went out and drove around looking at the damage - Brian took a bunch of photos, I'll link to them if he posts them!

None of the houses really seemed to suffer any damage - I didn't see any broken windows, etc. There were a few shingles lying around, but nothing major. The most obvious problem is the TREES knocked over, completly uprooted in some areas - blocking roads, etc. Craziness! It's a lot like after an ice storm (like back in Missouri), but warm and tropical instead of icy and awful, lol. Mostly newer trees were knocked over - they probably didn't have the roots yet to grab. A lot of the taller Royal palm trees are knocked over too - they might be able to set them upright though, we'll see. The whole place looks like a big jungle - leaves and Spanish Moss are everywhere!!!! We tried to go on our bike trails, but they were completely blocked with fallen trees. Hopefully they'll clear them off soon (although I'm sure that actual roads and yards and driveways take priority!). There were a LOT of people out cleaning up and carting away trees, thankfully.

I'm getting ready to paint! You'll be able to watch me HERE!

STORM

GLAD TO HEAR THAT EVERYTHING IS FINE WITH YOU BOTH. (KITTIES TOO!) I FLY TO TAMPA AT THE MARRIOTT TWICE A YEAR AND ONCE A YEAR AT DISNEY- (SHOWS) AND ONCE IN SEPTEMBER IT WAS SCARY. BLACK OUTSIDE WINDY RAIN-----= THE AIRLINES ONCE KEPT US IN THE AIR IN MIAMI- THAT WAS *NOT FUN* -I WILL KEEP THE EARTHQUAKES HERE IN CA. AT LEAST YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THEY ARE COMING. (EXCEPT I THINK ANIMALS SENSE SOMETHING- THEY GET VERY STRANGE)
HAVE A *GREAT* PAINTING DAY!
HUGS,

Our trees fall over too. Some say it's the wind, I think they just need a break .

Jasmine, I'm glad to hear everything your way is ok...Do you know if it hit very hard in fortMeyers? Might not have spelled that right...Anyways my twin brother lives there and I can't get ahold of him...He lives in an RV, kind of a drifter of sorts...But the last time I talked to him was several days ago and I was just worried...didn't really know exactly what path the hurricane took...
I've never been in a hurricane before, we just have tornados here, they are soooooo scary, but I love watching the clouds roll when we have warnings out..lol..scary but beautiful all at the same time! lol

I think Ft. Meyers was hit pretty hard - have you heard from your brother since then?

no I still haven't heard from him, my little brother said Johnny called him a few days before the storm hit, said he was living in an RV type vehicle and that he didn't know what he was going to do when the storm hit...since then we haven't heard from him...Plus because he never really puts down roots anywhere we have no way of contacting him, we have to wait till he calls us...maybe it's cuz the storm wiped out phone lines and such...
