New stuff! [Jul. 28th, 2004|07:37 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Ahh! I just bought a TON (yep, one metric ton.... well, almost) of art supplies!!!

Which is important, since I was running dangerously low (literally down to using one brush other than my fingers, and basing colour schemes on which paints I had left, lol). Thank you to winterswitchery for mentioning the "50% off all open stock brushes" sale at Michael's - I saved a small FORTUNE!

And huzzah!!! I updated my Elfwood gallery!!! I'll probably change it around more later, but I just had to get some new paintings in there - the most recent one WAS from over a year ago, lol, so it was in desperate need of an update. You can see it by clicking HERE!

I also stuck four or five new pieces up at Epilogue - which was also pretty outdated, and it looks like they've been accepted, hurrah! You can see it by clicking HERE.

I've decided to try to update my galleries more regularly, I hate it when they fall so far behind - especially since it's how a lot of people first find me, and I want to make a good impression. With Epilogue especially! I figure I could update that one gradually - if I put one or two pieces up at a time it will keep me in the "new art" section more often, and get more traffic my way maybe. I might clear out some older pieces sometime too to make room. Is there a maximum amount of pictures at Epilogue? I know Delphine said she's got 100 - I'm not sure how many I have, but it's probably getting close - I don't want to exceed the limit if there is one.

I'm off to fix some dinner, and then it will be back to email answering =P I see the light at the end of the tunnel though - believe it or not it wasn't an infinite amount, it just seemed that way. I should be back to painting for sure tomorrow!

Have fun with your new art supplies!!! Even when handicapped by frazzled brushes and a nearly depleted supply of paint, you still continue to dazzle everyone with your magnificent creations!!!! ;-)

Aaah! I must go to Michaels now! I forgot about the sale! Nothing is coming out smooth right now, so I take that as a sign that the brushes have had it! LOL

Elfwood is how I found you! I don't know how long ago, but I know that I started visiting Elfwood about 5 years ago and you were one of my first in my favorites folder!

I went to the Michaels sale and got a bunch of brushes and paints and canvas!! I'm so excited to start trying my hand at painting! I meant to ask if you if you had any recomendations for colors to first get for starting out. I just took a guess.

Lol, really? A lot of people seem to have found me there!

For starting out I would suggest picking up the basics - black, white, blue, yellow, red, and a mid green. If you have at least those, you can mix anything else!

Those are the colors I got! And I think I got a brown too.

Brown is a good one too - it's difficult to make! Of course, you can make shades of brown by mixing any complementary colours, but they always look a little too muddy =P

that's what I was thinking. I figured it would be best to get a brown to use as a base and change it up a bit by mixing different colors to it.
