Fun day!!! [Jun. 25th, 2004|05:54 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Matt & I went to Disney's waterpark Typhoon Lagoon! It was the first time I'd been there, even though I get in free with my premium passport, hehe. It was a lot of fun - it's a lot nicer than any other waterpark I've been too - very nicely themed, beautifully landscaped with tropical jungles, rather shady, all-in-all a great park.

Of course now I've got a stack of work in front of me =P I'll try to catch up on my LiveJournal comments, email & orders, etc. I have a handful of sketches I need to work on for some new commissions too.

Last night foxmagic came over for pizza and video games! It was a lot of fun =) He and Matt played, while I painted - I nearly finished up "The Crab and the Fox" - I'll probably finish that up tonight and stick it in my eBay store (since it's going to be a book illustration, making it a little extra special, I'm going to stick my Aesop's pieces in my store).

Man, I don't know what it is about swimming, but it always sucks the life out of me! I'm going to go drink some tea....

I'll post a link once I start painting in front of my camera!

I got the sticker! It's beautiful!! My boyfriend just now brought it home from the shop, the silly doof.

I don't know where to put it! I was thinking of putting it on my laptop but then I would never see it :-/ but it matches really nicely with my laptop. Decisions decisions!

foxmagic needs to be exposed to the glory of PC video games.. alas he is too far gone for rescue :(

unless he was playing everquest at your place or something...

now about typhoon lagoon.. That is a very nice park indeed, I remember my friend Max and I were in the lazy river and some people started spraying us with water and then he starts shouting "Aiiieee stooop I'm allergic to water!"

Good times.......erm..

"Typhoon Lagoon" looks like a blast!! It does seem like most waterparks do forget to put in some shady spots!

I look forward to seeing the "Crab and the Fox". I can't watch painting cams anymore. I quit using Internet Explorer after some stupid site downloaded porn onto my computer (Yahoo isn't as compatible with some of the stuff I'm running). It adds it right to your favorite links!! Files and files of it!! You see all of those cases on TV where part of the evidence against a criminal is he had porn in his computer files! Man, I'm a crimainal for even turning on my computer these days! LOL

actually swimming is one of the most physically demanding activities there are. I always am wiped after swimming all day long, and it works so many more muscles then just running or walking.

cant wait to see artsie fartsi work...

Hey Jasmine. Thought you might appreciate this "acrylics palette tip". You can put your palette in the freezer when you're not using it, and the paint doesn't dry as quickly. Sometimes it will even last overnight! =)

Aha! Thank you for the tip! That might come in handy when I work on bigger pieces that extend over a period of a couple days - I usually mix my own colours, and sometimes it can be a b*tch trying to get them exactly right the next day!

Yeah. I know what you mean about not being able to get the right color again. Just be careful how long you leave the paint out before you freeze it . . . might dry in the freezer anyway if it's been sitting out too long. ;)

Also . . . what kind of acrylic paint do you use? Is it runny or rather thick/viscous? (I ask because I'm not sure how this works for all type of acrylics . . . maybe you could just let me know what happens once you try it?) =)

I use the fluid acrylics (usually Golden Fluid Acrylics) - hehe, I like them because they dry the quickest on the canvas (since I paint in many thin layers) - BUT that means they also dry quickly on the palette! I'll let you know how the freezer treats them next time if I try that!

I wanted so badly to comment yesterday, I wanted to tell you that I was and am so overwhelmed and gratefull to you, for choosing 'The Dance' as art of the day on EBSQ, it means so much to me, because you are someone I look up to, and it was incredibly generous and sweet, so my unreserved thanks Jasmine, you are a real and true friend.
