Painting!!! [Jun. 21st, 2004|10:08 am]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Good morning!!!

Wow, I've got so much work to do today!

I need to do some touch-ups on a commission, answer a bunch of email and process a bunch of orders, etc. I also have several paintings I want to start working on:

I think I will start with Cinderella! I'm not sure which scene I'll do - maybe a kind of montage of different story elements. I know I want to paint that pumpkin carriage, lol.

I will also be working on my Aesop's Fables paintings possibly today too! I'm not sure if I will sell them right away - I might stick them in my eBay store. I'd really like to stock up my eBay store pretty well (I usually do that in June/July, since those are slow times for eBay), and they'll be kind of unique since they are going to be book illustrations.

I had to order four gallery-wrapped canvases online for a commission (the local art store doesn't carry them in the square sizes she wanted), so those will have to wait until they arrive later this week. In addition to those and the touch-ups on another I finished I have another commission to work on of a cute little girl and her stuffed panda (adorable!). I'll ask the customer if it's okay if I paint "on camera" - if so I'll let you all know when I start working on that one so you can watch, hehe!

For now though, I'm going to start on Cinderella! I'll be painting in a few minutes, and you'll be able to watch me HERE on my webcam!

I have to drive another sity to get them :) Actually just today we bought bunches of gallery wrapped canvas and also canvas boards (I really LOVE those and they are very easy to ship).

I noticed June was very low. Is it always like this? I think may be because people getting on vacation or travelling. I am still not year on Ebay so for me its all new :)

Going to pick on your camera...LOL

Wow! Do you not have an art supply store in your town?

Yeah, I've been selling for almost five years now on eBay - June and July are usually the slowest months =P The BEST months are September-December!

Not at all :( only couple of very small shops that when I asked for Gesso they thought I was crazy! LOL So because we were at embassy today I had a chance to be there, otherwise its two hours drive.

OH, I already thought it was me...LOL...now I'll look forward to September!! :) I started from end of October, so I don't know anything about September yet.

I've always wondered, why the hair dryer? Besides for the whole..drying purpose.

Well, um, to dry?

Hehe - I paint in many thin layers, so otherwise I'd have to stop and wait for 20 in between layers! This way I can just spend a minute with the hairdryer, and then move on!

That's what I thought, but I was curious. Since the only things I tend to wait for are the background colours. I didn't realize the wait time was so long, then again, I have the television playing or I'll bounce up here (I sit on the floor) while it dries...so..I guess I feel stupid now ^^;;

LOLLLL Hair dryer is love ! I use it too since forever lol ! I like it too because of the heat, it makes the paper ( because I mostly paint on paper ) or the canvas all 'flat' when I let it dry normally sometime it might do some 'waves' and I hate that ! O_O

Hey :)

Just wanted to say I absolutely love the way the pumpkin carriage is taking shape. Just watching the details on the windows of it at the moment. It's like I have a miniature Jasmine trapped in the top right hand corner of my computer screen painting frantically, LOL! :)

Can't wait to see this finished! ;)
