Last night we went to see "Treasure Planet." It was an excellent movie - thoroughly entertaining on many levels. Good character development, very interesting interpretation of the original story, nice blend of traditional and computer animation, unobtrusive music - all in all, nicely done. Patrick McGoohan (Number Six!!!!) even had a small voice role! Anything with pirates in general usually gets a thumbs up from me ;)|
It is refreshing to see a scifi/futuristic world that is richly coloured and still maintains some traditional elements. Not that I don't enjoy the occasional post-apocalyptic bleak vision of the future, it's just nice to see some character and warmth sometimes.
We were treated to a preview of "Finding Nemo" too - which looks very promising.
Now, I need to see Nemesis! Amber saw it already, and she tells me that it was "better than Insurrection, but not as good as First Contact." We'll see. I wish I could have seen it this weekend, because next time I go to the movies I'll of course be watching "The Two Towers". Matt was pointing out that a lot of the larger-grossing movies in the past few years have been fantasy/scifi related. Star Wars, LOTR, Harry Potter, Spiderman, etc. Maybe there is hope for society after all. Oops, did I just say that?

i hadnt really thought about that. maybe people are finally getting tired of the same old crap. look at what the two towers has to compete with right now, a knockoff of pretty woman with whosherass in it and some other sappy chick flick. maybe you are right about society......nah

Bill & I saw Nemesis yesterday--it was quite possibly THE best Trek of the bunch. I was truly amazed. You'll love it.
Huge cheers your way,
Yay! I can't wait! This is a good season for movies =)
