Good Afternoon!!! [Jun. 9th, 2004|01:17 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
I've been so incredibly busy!

Mostly working on a huge commissioned painting - hopefully I'll finish that up tonight, possibly tomorrow.

I've been on the phone off and on forever with the mortgage broker, the homeowner's insurance company, our previous leasing office, etc. trying to get everything all straightened out in time for our closing date on Friday. So confusing! Everybody is going slooow turning in their paperwork for the broker, but hopefully we won't have to postpone the closing date. If it's a day or two late it won't be the end of the world, but I really want to start moving in on Friday. James is of course flying down Friday morning to help us move, hehe. Bah - I hate stupid paperwork and stupid phonetag and stupid fax machines and stupid bank people and all that stupid stupid stuff. Okay, enough complaining about that =P

I have a very small mouth, and too many teeth. Now I have even more big dumb teeth trying to grow sideways in the waaay back of my mouth (wisdom teeth, presumably, which have surfaced from time to time throughout my life), and now they are keeping my jaw from closing back there, which is surprisingly not painful, but very uncomfortable. So Matt has made me an appointment for this afternoon to go see him at the office this afternoon. It's funny going to the dentist and having Matt do a lot of the work - weird. At least that way it'll be free, or at least very cheap.

We have LOTS to do here - packing, boxing things up, disassembling furniture, hooking up utilities, etc. And of course the usual art-related stuff. It's a lot of fun having Kachina and Theodore here at least - that makes it a lot more bearable!!!!

Back to work!

Re: teeth

Yeah - I just got back and I will need to get them taken out soon! I'll probably wait until we're all settled in our house, since they're not really giving me any pain yet.

Sorry to hear about the teeth - I had the same problem. I had 4 teeth removed and braces for 3 years and then my wisdom teeth removed when they came in - impacted and all! ICK! Best to have these things taken care of, though; less trouble in the long run! Good luck with it!
The house stuff is always maddening. Why can't we just pay through Paypal and move in? Too much fuss! LOL

"Why can't we just pay through Paypal and move in?" - LOL! I kept thinking that same thing!!!

Yep, the dentist agrees that they all 4 need to come out =P I'll probably wait until we're settled in the house and then go get it taken care of!

I'm with mcmatz. I had 4 regular teeth pulled for braces, and then my 4 wisdom teeth removed later! I cannot imagine having 8 more teeth than I do now!!! LOL Having the wisdoms taken out was a breeze though. I remember saying to the dentist, "Hey, can you give me a boob job while I'm out?" Just kidding;)

LOL!

Yeah, I just came back from the dentist's office - he agreed they need to come out =P

I can either get them pulled out at Matt's office under nitrous, or go to the oral surgeon at the hospital and be put to sleep first - I think I might choose the latter, lol.

I had the first 4 taken out when I was a kid, and they gave me shots in the mouth. I felt the first tooth being twisted out, and started bawling. They asked, "You can feel that?!" Apparently I had a much higher tolerance for the drugs than they had anticipated. When I had my wisdoms taken out, I went to the oral surgeon. I was sitting in the chair, and I said, "Wow, maybe I'm suggestive, but I think I already feel it working." They said, "Yes, it does work fast." Suddenly I woke up, and it was completely over. No recollection of anything. I could not believe it!! One minute I'm saying I'm sleepy, the next minute I'm waking up. Almost creepy! It's wierd that you can just go out like that, but it was a blessing for me. I had always heard horror stories about how bad it hurts to get them taken out, but the procedure itself was painless for me.

It's funny that Matt will be working on you. Maybe he can circumvent the usual policy of pain and make it easy on you! I've got to get my wisdom teeth out soon too :(

Lol, yeah - it was kind of weird!!! They just did the x-rays and stuff this time, and then probably in a few weeks I'll get them removed - ouch!

Oh no.

Good luck with all of this. The teeth sound awful. They took mine out before they even came in because an x-ray showed they were back in the jaw and would not have space to come in. I wish I could say it was easy, but in any case, it's much better than keeping them in. At least you'll have someone who loves you there to look out for you.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Re: Oh no.

Thank you Neva!!!

I just went in for the x-rays and stuff today, and 3 of them are already in and the other one is still impacted, and they all 4 need to come out =P I'll wait to take care of it until after we're moved into our house first and all that, hehe.

Good luck!! I hope those people get moving on that paperwork. It's funny how they go so pokey because to them it's just WORK to do, whereas, it's YOUR life. Maybe you should run over & buy a latte for whoever the slow poke is who is holding up the process! Maybe they need bribed to do YOUR paperwork 1st! hee hee

Sorry about the Wisdom teeth! Wisdom teeth are so useless, wonder why we even have them. All they do is cause trouble!

I hope they get your paperwork done quickly. When my son bought his last home, there was an unexpected week delay due to the paperwork. Luckily, the seller of the new home let him go ahead and move in early cuz he had to be out of the house he sold pronto and had nowhere to go. I was a little concerned though, because the home owners insurance wasn't in force until the final closing. Thankfully nothing went wrong.

Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well and you can move in on time!!

Yep! Hehe, it was funny having him work on me - he took the x-rays and mapped out my mouth and that technical type stuff. He actually works on the patients more than the dentist does!

Oh man - paperwork to buy houses is CRAZY! Be sure to keep extra good record of all of your art sales, taxes, etc. - they'll want all of that stuff!!!

having your wisdom teeth pulled doesn't really hurt to much, it's hearing them pulling your teeth out that sucks! The sound's and the smells drove me crazy.

have your teeth looked at, if you get the extra teeth in and they are pushing the other teeth, it can affect your whole bite and the other teeth, it's *much* better to get that looked at before that happens !

Matt is a dentist now? Nothing like a Steve Martin type of dentist from "Little Shop of Horrors", I hope.

PS good luck with all the papers and the closing on the house, best time to get those sorts of people is first thing in the morning when they are having their quiet moment with their coffee, then they actually pick up the phone, 8:30 or 9:00, just a tip ;-)

Yep - I went in today and they're all 4 coming in all impacted =(

Matt's actually the assistant, but he does a lot of the patient care there so it's kind of funny going in and having him work on me, hehe.

Oh No...

Jasmine, at least you will be asleep, I was. I had four impacted and a bottom tooth grew on top of another six teeth pulled at once. I wash my mouth out with salt water that stops the pain and was on painkillers the first night is the worse, I slept sitting up my jaw was bruised. Eat soft food, liquids for awhile. Hope you have a speedy recovery, when it is done. You will be fine Sharon.....

I saw you in a lot of my friend's journals and you seem interesting, not to mention your artwork is gorgeous.
I wanted to ask if it's alright with you if I add you?

Ugh

I know how you feel with the wisdom teeth stuff. Mine are all wonky as well and unfortunately, the husband and I have no money or coverage to do anything about it. I hate the dentist anyway, heh.

Dropped by from your site....LOVE your art! Congrats on your success! Still trying to break into it on this end...i.e. lots of free illustrations going out for resume padding. ;)

Good luck with the dentist!
