Wow - I'm sure at the Airport a lot..... [May. 24th, 2004|06:11 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Lol - we just dropped Matt's mom off at the airport. We had a lot of fun with her visiting!!!

Yay! I came home and saw that "Alice and the Mushrooms" just sold - it reminded me that I forgot to offer prints of that one - I'll probably get to that when I come back from Kansas City for my trip (eek - I leave on Wednesday - so much to do!!).

I've got a backlog of email to catch up on - I'll try to tackle a bunch of it tonight so it won't be too heavy on my mind while I'm out of town!

I have a couple of commissions to work on too (one is really big!! Maybe too big for my table - I'll have to check) - I'll probably get started on some sketches for that tonight as well. I'd like to get another original painting finished before I leave too. If I end up painting on my camera tonight I'll post a link, but until then I'm off to answer my emails!

Congratulations on the win!!! Kimmerwink was hiding!!!! You are definiately blessed!!! Trips, other events--you get a whopper of you know!!! Now for the size of that commission if that person would not mind--i am just that curious person!!! So it can't be 16X20--its got to be that 25X30 deal someone was talking to you about???? hehe just kidding on that--i think that was the funny measurement anyhow---i have to go back and check by reading. I am curious--tell us.

Hi Laura!

Oh yes - one is a 24"x30" piece - I'll have to see if it fits on my desk, lol! I think it probably will - but whenever I do a 36"s48" I have to take it to the floor since that won't fit on my table, hehe!

I love selling pieces from my eBay store - it's always such a nice surprise!

I think almost all of the Alice are in the same household except for one - "Alice and the Birds" (the very first one, before I really started the series) was bought by another collector. It makes me happy when a bunch of my paintings go to the same person though!

hey!

Hey Jas! I hope the weather is behaving nicely when you are in town. We just got slammed last night with some really bad storms and the tornado alarms were going off. I planned on getting that canvas mother nature print but got sidetracked for the last 20 minutes of it and missed out for the bid war! Next time its on!!!! he he. I really liked alice and the mushrooms so I will probably pick up a print when it comes out. I hope you have a great time when you are in town.

Re: hey!

Bah - I hope the weather is at least decent for when my plane lands -
Matt's mom was flying home to KC last night, and they re-routed her up to Nebraska because of the tornadoes....grrr.....

That's weird, because I'm up here visiting Jilly in Omaha, and we had tornado warnings all over the place. KC must've been even more fun, I guess.

Crazy Midwest weather =P

I'm actually going to be in Omaha this next week! My dad & other assorted family members are going up to hit the Omaha Zoo. And then of course after my sisters and I watch you get married, we're going to the Wichita Zoo. Lots of animal-seeing!

When are you going to the zoo? Jillianne and I will be going sometime between now and when we leave on the Monday after the wedding. We just bought a membership to the Omaha zoo, and of course they have reciprocal membership benefits with Wichita and most other places.

The gorilla exhibit in Omaha is really coming along. A year ago they were all in cages, but now their habitats are about halfway done. I don't know if you've been to the Wichita one since we were REALLY young (if then), but the Koch family of petroleum fame has put in a huge orangutan habitat that is supposed to be really great. I think there was a gorilla project going on when I was there a year or so ago.

Word from a first-timer at the Omaha zoo: it took us well over an hour just to go through the big desert dome at the zoo. It has the world's largest indoor swamp, a great penguin display, and tons of other stuff, and in the three hours we were there, I only saw about a third of the zoo. Be sure to check out the three-legged tiger mom!

Very cool!!!

I'm not sure which day we'll be going - that will probably be based on the weather, and when my step-mom will be off of work, etc.

I've been to the Omaha Zoo several times, but not in the past year or two, so I'm excited to see the changes!!!!

Oh have you? Well, you're obviously an expert compared to me. So you've seen the desert dome then, I assume. Oh, they have a baby gorilla and baby orangutan in the nursery right now, wearing newborn diapers.

Last time I was there actually it was right before the new desert dome opened, so that will be new to me too!!! Awww!! I love baby animals especially =)
