Oh my - the past couple of days have been a blur! My cousin Ariel, Grandma, and Aunt Lisa & Uncle Kevin have been staying here with us, and having lots of fun. Yesterday I went with them to Universal Studios, and this morning we went to Islands of Adventure! We've been going on lots of walks and they treated me out to restaurants, etc. too, hehe! I feel like I've been on vacation =)|
They just left a little while ago, I miss them already =( They're off to Pensacola now to go to the beaches.
Of course, as usual whenever I take a day off my email gets all backed up =P
Thank you to all of you who have sent me photos for my "Call for Models"!!! I can't believe what a wonderful response I got! I've still got a ton of photos and emails to go through, but feel free to send more whenever you like - there's no time limit or deadline, hehe.
Tonight I'll be painting!!!! I'm not sure what I will work on first - I'd like to do a piece with multiple kinds of faeries (like I did in Green Goddess or Earth Faeries, etc.), maybe using a bunch of different models. And I want to paint "Thumbelina" of course, and Cinderella and all of those....
So much to do! Next week Matt's mom is coming down to stay with us - that will be fun! Then it will be his turn to go play, lol.
I'll post a link to my webcam once I get started painting!
Hey Jas! I'm glad you had a great time with your family! It's so great that you live in an area that people would like to make a trip to anyway, and you have the lovely option to be hostess!!
I don't know if you're still checking this post for comments, but I have a quick question--Do you have any tips on scanning a black acrylic painting? You have such a beautiful scan of "What Mischief She Makes", and it has a great deal of black. I had another in the past that I fixed the faded look by using the little lasso and recoloring it. The particular painting that I am scanning has way too much going on to use that same technique I fear. Any quick tips?

Thanks in advance for any help:)
Oh - the best way to do that for a mostly black painting is to adjust the levels in the image, rather than trying to darken different areas.
If you use photoshop, once you get the whole piece scanned in and flattened, go to Image then Adjust then Levels. You can try "auto levels" and sometimes that will fix it right there! If not, hit undo, and then go to manually adjust the levels. Basically on the Levels window there are pictures of three droppers. The one on the left is the "dark" dropper. Click the dropper on the left and then click on whatever the lightest area (you can zoom up to the pixel) of the BLACK used in the painting. It will darken everything that shade and darker to solid black, which (assuming it is solid black in real life, and it is honestly just the scanner making it discoloured) will fix your problem!
Ha ha! I see you are passing out Adjusting Tips left and right! That is amzing what you did to Adam's piece! Yep, basically my painting looks just like Adam's did when you try to enlarge it in any way. It gets really faded, and it is really PURE black under the gray:( So, thank you so much! That sounds perfect. I know very little about the eye droppers, but I think this is the perfect advice! You're the best!!! XOXOXOXOXOXOXO
Lol - it's funny, you posted right when I was posting to Adam, hehe! Yep! Much the same problem, lots of times it's just hard to get pure black to scan properly!!!
Jasmine I love how you always speak so positively of people, you're one of the nicest people I know :) Having company can be so hectic that it's not easy to be positive sometimes lol!
Glad you don't have a deadline so I can still submit for models =D
You guys are just the crazy host and hostess!!! WOW you have alot of family visits!!!!!LoL...Hope Matt gets to take some time off work to spend with his mom!!.. ;o)
i promise i will send a pic of me soon C:
I hope your family has fun here in Pensacola! Too bad you couldn't come too. The beaches are gorgeous right now, and yesterday the news showed footage of a small whale swimming right off the beach, it was really amazing! Have fun painting :)
I had a dream the other night that you used me as one of your models and I was sooooooooooo unbelievably happy, and when I woke up, I was all disappointed lol. I always do that, I'll have a dream that is soooo amazingly real, and wake up surprised that it isn't LOL. dreams are great. ^-^
I also had a dream where I was at Rubidia's house, and you sent me a special package there, and it was full of your hand embellished prints, so I was like SCORE! LOLLLL!! Theeeeen last week you, delphine, and kayti were over here and all of a sudden the weather got really nasty and to get away from it, the four of us hid under water. and i remember we were in a circle holding onto this pole to help us stay under, and we could talk, but somehow we knew what each other was saying. it was very strange. but amazing as well! i love any dreams where I get to hang out with my online friends. ^_____^
You have been the crazy hostess lately!! I need to move someplace really beautiful and then people would come visit me!
It seems that most of your family have really beautiful names. Is it a family tradition or just good taste?
I can't wait to see your new work, but I'm surprised you haven't collapsed from exhaustion yet. Entertaining family can be hard work even though it's fun.
