New Paintings!!!!!! [Apr. 5th, 2004|10:35 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
I have two new paintings to share with you!!!

The first is the magnificent......

"Gothling #4"

and the second is a special - "Customized" painting - an unfinished piece - the winning bidder gets to tell me what colour hair, eyes, clothing, wings, etc., and I will paint it especially for them!!!

"Customized Painting"

In other news - I went to the eye doctor today. How fun! Um, maybe not =P My eyes have deteriorated further, requiring new, stronger prescriptions, etc. Pretty much as usual.

I'm off to grab some dinner! Good night, all!

=P sorry about the eyes thing. how bad are your eyes all together? i didn't realize until meeting bradley and all of you guys how fortunate i was to have good vision and i am really glad my parents were vultures about catching my at night reading by little pen lites, nite lites, and so one--anything dim that gave off any lite was my habit...and they made me stop. I dont think i could stand to stick contacts in my eyes every day-

have you ever thought of getting lazik surgery on your eyes..i know a girl who said she feels it was the best money she ever spent in her entire life..they actually over corrected her vision a slight bit but she only has to wear glasses when working with computers for extended periods and sometimes when reading when she starts to get tired. It seems like something you could definitely benifit from in your line of work?

Ah, my eyes are pretty poor - I can barely get around without any kind of vision correction. I have a terrible astigmatism (and the doctor admitted to me that the contacts for astigmatism won't do much good for me in my case, and glasses give me migraines, so even with my corrective contacts I still don't see very well). I've had contacts/glasses since 2nd grade and each year I go more blind! =P

I don't think I would ever want to get Lasik - it's too new, and too scary, lol. It also doesn't have a very good history treating astigmatism (in fact, the lady in front of me at the doctor was getting glasses because Lasik failed to help her astigmatism). I honestly don't mind wearing contacts - I've done it for so long, it doesn't really bother me. And besides, I get to pick funny colours and special effects lenses and stuff, hehe!

Ahhh, I'm the high bidder? lol. Wow. I was expecting a "You got outbidded!" message. I'll prolly get it in a few mins :)
Anyway, I couldn't resist. The colors on gothling #4 are just so so so so adorable.

Sorry about the eye doctor :( I'm currently on my way to needing glasses. My vision has been perfect so far but at my last physical I actually had trouble seeing the last line in the eye test. Everything was blurry :(

Ahh - looks like you're outbid, hehe! I will do more of these though - so much fun!

I honestly don't mind wearing contacts - it's kind of fun choosing different colours and special effects lenses (cat's eyes, all black, little stars, cute stuff like that). I'm completely blind without them, hehe. I'm glad I got a new prescription - I can see much better already!!!

Gothling #4 has cute hair! I love the idea of your custom paintings. That's so cool.

It seems like everytime I go to the eye doctor my eyes are worse. I'm due to go. The last time I went was almost 3 years ago. It's when I was pregnant and I guess when you are pregnant your eye prescription changes and will change again when you aren't pregnant anymore, so they didn't really want to give me an exam and change my prescription. But I was getting new insurance that didn't have eye on it, so I needed too. I hate eye exams. But I'm looking forward to getting new frames! I've never liked the ones I have now.

aloha Jasmine, :-P about the eyes, IMHO especially since you are so young, no Lasik surgery on the eyes, but rather leave them alone, many people go to an eye specialist for a regimen of eye exercises that seems to help them ... and this is a safe, noninvasive alternative to try, my mom had some eye troubles that were alleviated by a specialized regimen of eye exercise. From what I understand Lasik is a big moneymaker and not all doctors are really that experienced @ doing the surgery, IMHO stay away from it until you are much older.

I agree - I'm staying away from Lasik!!! I've known a few people who've had it done, with such varying results - I don't trust it, lol. Especially since I work in the visual arts - I'm very careful with my eyes!!! I don't want to be forced into taking up sculpture, hehe.

Beautiful Gothling, especially her violet eyes!!! I've had trouble painting with that color for some reason, so I really admire what you've done with it, wings included! To look at your great paintings, no one would guess you had any vision problems.
