Hey, if you get the whole family to pitch in, maybe they could just get you the piece for 24 grand;) You're worth it! Just put off buying a house! LOL
These are both from "The Art of Dragonlace" which was basically one of the main books that made me decide to pursue fantasy art as a career. I got it for my 14th birthday =)
I can understand why they would mean so much to you, it they were your inspiration.
Your Fairy House will and should bring in a nice price. Who doesn't love it? It is incredible. So much to look at. It is one of those exploring type paintings.
I hope you will offer prints. I am not big on prints, but I would love to be able to purchase a print of that one. OK, face it, I would love to have the original.. ;) Oh yes... and I admit there are a couple swampy prints I have to have ;)
Thank you =) =)
Do you like swamps as much as I do? The swampy landscape here is half the reason I moved down here to Florida, hehe ;)
Oh yes! I'll definitely be offering prints! In fact, after the original painting ends at auction, I think I'll probably pick this one to be one of my "Sale" prints! I always post here at LJ when I have new prints available, so you'll be one of the first to know =)
Oh yea! I am so going to buy that print and I will pick up my swamp girls then, also. Yep, love thes swamps and everything good about them.
Okay, so I didn't start drawing until I was almost middle-aged, well, at least compared to many of the other LJers here, but I had wanted to draw since I was given the first colored ElfQuest book. It has made me quite obsessed with them!! I think my mom sent it to me when in 7th grade because my step-dad had it lying around the joint!!
Wow, those are amazing! I can't wait to see your art fetch those prices (I'm sure you can't either!)
AAhhh! Yes! I love the LOTR art he did!!
What meaningful pieces! May your wishes come true!
Damn...I want those too...they would go so well with my decor :)
Ahhh! I know!!!!!!!!!
Oh man, Larry Elmore sold some of the pencil sketches he did for some Raistlin paintings, and I bid on the sketches but got outbid at the last second. I should have bid more!!! One of them only went for like $300. I would have loved to have had them.
I do have one original Larry Elmore - it's from the Magic the Gathering game (I used to play that a lot!!!) and it's a picture of a swamp, so I had to buy it being the swampy girl that I am, lol. This one here (that's Larry holding it!):
Oh - I REALLY WANT this Clyde Caldwell paintint here: http://www.clydecaldwell.com/large_images/legends.html
He has it for sale, too: http://www.clydecaldwell.com/shopping_cart/htdocs/original_artwork_overview.html#legends

Ohhhhhh yeah I remember you won one !!! Hehe, I'm a MTG gammer too ^_-
( who spent my lunch time at playing at this or D&D all the time at school LOLLLLLLL we call people like me 'medieval nerd' here LOLLLL )
I look at Larry auctions all the time too !! Some go for VERY low sometime !!!! ( or very pricy ! :-p )
A thing that I would love to be able to find is original art of Fighting Fantasy RPG book ... Kevin love them so badly, he collect every single books in *ALL* different editions, variant, ect , we have an entire wall of those books LOLLL I'd like to find an original who made the cover of one of these book and give it to him, that would be sooooooooo bad ass !! I'd like to be able to find a painting of a beholder one day too lol, THAT would be just too cool !!
$3500 ? that isn't thattt bad you know ... just have to 'save' your money ... but it worth ! I thought that kind of painting would be like 10 000 and more lol! $3500 is the kind of budget I have for my anime cels every 5 months lol .... I know, I'm bad ... LOL .. but hey, those are great and a good investment, you could sell art for 2 or 3 x more than how much you paid for it ... ^_- ( well, good excuse I say to myself so that way I feel better LOLLLLLLLLLLLL )
I think you should defenitely buy that Clyde Caldwell one ! You know, you just have to say ' okay that painting for ebay will go on the Clyde Caldwell one lol ... and do that with 10 of your painting + bunch of prints and you will be able to get it !!! :-D
Hehe, I should start a separate savings account called "Jasmine's Dragonlance Fund" - lol!
I know what you mean, it's not really that much money compared to a lot of things. I should really get a new car before I do that though, hehe.
ok you got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lol! Oh - I wish!!! With that kind of money, I could buy a car, hehe.
ohhhhhhhh--oooopsssss i sent that tooooo fast--didn't mean to press that button---i was telling you a fibbbbbbbbbbbbbbb!!!!
oh my Jasmine!!! you have excellent taste!!!!!!!!! When is your birthday????????? LOL My you have expensive taste---actually I do toooo but it seems to fall in the high hundreds and some in the thousands------but those pictures you saw--are they worth that that that much????????
LOL!!! Oh man - these are like dream paintings - I'd never expect to OWN them unlesss I was a millionaire, hehe!!!!!!!!
These are from a book called "The Art of Dragonlance" which I got when I was a little girl and it's part of the reason I wanted to be a fantasy artist, so they're very special to me. They are illustrations for some of my favourite books!!! Very popular books, and the artists are now very famous, so their paintings are very expensive, hehe. Someday maybe when MY paintings sell for that much, I'll get to buy some of these!! ;)
