YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay for now we turned off Microsoft firewall and Microsoft connection sharing, and it works. So now we will search backwards which of the two was the problem. But I (Maria's husband) thinks it is the MS firewall, But if we figure it out well let you know, because it looks so much better than Geocity's stream... :)

Ah yes - I think it's the Windows XP firewall screwing mine up too! That and my router - I can't figure out how to get around it, since I've got a couple of computers networked together and the firewall options seem to change since I'm not broadcasting from the computer with the direct cable connection, but through the router. Uggghhh - it all is so confusing! So far the ONLY webcam service I can get to work is the Yahoo/Geocities one =P

Then I await in trepidation my fair lady...although I think you look better as a dark maiden personally ;) BTW have you ever thought of designing some animated Jasmine screensavers? Or maybe some desktop backgrounds? Just a thought....think there might be quite a few people interested in seeing something along those lines.....

Ah!!! I'd love to do that! I need to figure out how to make my own animated screensavers, and then figure out how to make them downloadable without costing me an arm and a leg for the bandwidth, lol.

I have to agree with you - I prefer having black hair and I think it's much more aesthetically pleasing with my complexion. I have very dark eyelashes and eyebrows, so I don't think I look quite right with my natural blonde hair, lol. Here's a photo of me from when I was a teenager (before I'd ever dyed my hair, and a little more babyfat, hehe):

my! you are cute no matter what hair color/style

i am so envy of you, Jasmine!!! No matter what hair color/style/pose--you are still a femininely sophisticated young lady. hope i spelled it correctly!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sure do like that girlish grin and pose---why don't you do a painting of that kind---not necessarily blonde--it is an extremely striking pose of which this should be given to Del also. Alrighty, Goldie Locks...see ya later. Laura

Jasmine....what kind of scanner do you use?....no point in buying one til I get Stateside (soon I hope!)....I can only find small flatbeds....I have an A4 flatbed at the mo...but I need a larger one....(scanner that is)...hehe....as I usually work 16 x 20.....your last work you scanned was 16 x 20 so you must have one of a similiar spec I am looking for.

Oh no - I just have a regular old 8.5"x11" scanner. I've never been able to find a 16"x20", although that would be rather cool! Actually, I found a Super B sized one (13"x19") for about $6,000. That's pretty pricey, and not really even that big.

What I do is take many scans and stitch them together, zooming in at 1600% and aligning the very pixels, and erasing the seams. Very time-consuming, but I've been doing it so long I have it down perfectly, and I'd bet nobody could tell the difference between that and a single large scan! My prints look perfect - you'd never know!

Here's what I do:

You need to have Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro or some other image editing software, and a scanner:

#1 Take multiple scans of the painting, covering the whole piece. For a 12"x16" I take four scans - upper right corner, upper left corner, bottom right corner, bottom left corner. Save them all separately (name them so you can remember - like fairyul.jpg (ul for upper left) or something).

#2 Open a new image (blank) in your photo editing program (I use Photoshop) that is 12"x16".

#3 Open one of the scans - I start with the upper right corner. Copy and paste the scan into the big 12"x16" window.

#4 Open the next scan (like the upper left one - go in a circle). Copy and paste it onto the big window, in approximately the upper left corner.

#5 On the second scan that you just pasted in step #4, change the opacity (transparency) of that layer to 50%. This will show the "overlap" zone so you can line it up just right!

#6 Zoom in with your magnifying tool, and move the second layer until it lines up perfectly with the first layer!

#7 Change your opacity back up to 100%.

#8 With an eraser tool (the fuzzy edged ones work best) erase the "lines" on the edge of the second scan, to blend it in with the first scan, and flatten the image.

#9 Do the same thing with the bottom right and then bottom left corners, following steps #4-#8 until it is done!

#10 Be sure to flatten the image again, and crop off any edges. Adjust the levels and contrast if needed, and save as one big picture!

You're done!

completely unrelated to the thread

Do you think that Matt's mom would be interested in a cute ferret girl who is 4 yrs old, sable in color and sooooooo sooo sweet? Also very small. Comes with a 6-7 foot tall cage, food, litter pan, hammock, etc. It is being given away for free by Shawn and Kathy's neighbors Betsy and Randy....I guess you may have gathered the specifics from my LJ entry this weekend. Anyway, i was talking to the Rodan and they mentioned Matt's mom as a possibility, so I thought I'd ask.

-S.

If anyone else out there wants a ferret...let me know. (I really wish I could take him but my big dog would eat him).
