Wow---- [Dec. 29th, 2003|11:04 am]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Lol, I totally need a bigger house- I just got my first shipment of some custom sized mailing tubes and poly bags I ordered wholesale, and now boxes as big as I am are taking over my living room, lol. I ordered some brand new uber-thick mailing tubes (made out of fiberboard about three times as thick as the ones you can get at Office Max). They are like IMPOSSIBLE to bend (which is important, with artwork), so I am very excited. I had a couple of prints get SQUISHED over the holiday shipping rush (apparently with my old tubes, if somebody STOMPS on them {why somebody at the post office would do this, I do not know, lol} they would crinkle in the middle, and I don't want that to ever happen again! No problem with these sturdy little guys though =)

I also bought an enormous roll of poly-tubing (basically a tube shaped bag {the same size of the inside diameter of the mailing tubes} and is thousands of feet long) that is rolled up on a big spool and you cut off whatever length bag you need. I'm using it to put my rolled prints and paintings in it before I put them in mailing tubes, kind of like how you'd buy a poster at a store, so they'll come out of the tubes easily =)

So now I have all these huge boxes full of Art of Faery books, lots of mailing tubes, poly tubing, labels, Priority Mail boxes, etc. They're taking over. Help!!! o_O

Enough about that though =P I'm going to get some painting done now! First though, my webcam is going to go down for a moment while I snap some reference pics ;) I'll update here with my webcam link once it's back up and running!

that sucks about the squished prints :P my dad was just doing a temp job this month running christmas mail from washington to california and he said that over the holidays they hire people "right off the street" to sort at the warehouses and they dont care if they break things or squash them, he said he will be extra careful if he ever mails anything fragile over the holidays after seeing how the mail is treated :)

*imagining postal worker driven to point of madness STOMPING on all mailing tubes just to see if anything would squirt out the end* It's a busy season, I guess. Or maybe they fell and were trampled before anyone knew.

Hehe, probably so. Honestly - one customer sent me a SCAN of the tube and it totally had a dirty boot print on it, LOL!

It was just a couple of prints, no originals or anything, and I sent free replacements and everything is a-ok, it was just a hassle =P

Ahh!The post office is crazy.I think there should be some sort of screening for handling packages- at least on the holiday season.People steal money, crush packages, etc. With how damn expensive it can get to buy the supplies and then actually ship stuff out you'd think they could find people with a bit more care!!
