Errands, etc. [Dec. 11th, 2003|11:56 am]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
I've been running very boring errands today - going to the Post Office, Bank, etc. Blah.

Now I'm going to be working on a commission, but it is a private commissioned drawing and at the client's request it is "off camera" so you can't watch me =P I will probably get more painting in after a while though, and I'll update when I do!

I know I have a million and a half (almost) emails too, but that's just going to have to wait until I get my work done! I spent almost six hours last night just straight answering email, it's getting a little crazy. I need to figure out a way that I can get my email done AND paint at the same time =P

Do you have an automatic response function?

I do, because with my pixelated dollz site it went mad. I couldn't answer all the emails so my bf set up an automatic reply thingie. When people contact me through my website, they get an automatic response with a message from me, thanking for contacting me, put my FAQ in it and some more information. It's not so personal, but if they email me with a question which isn't answered in the FAQ, or about something else I do try to reply personally as well.

That's the whole problem - these are just the emails that couldn't be answered by the FAQ, or need a personal response (like interviews, business stuff, fanmail, etc.).

There really isn't a way to do any sort of auto-response for that kind of thing. I do use templates and have most answers to common questions on file, and those will just take a moment. In a lot of cases, the people emailing me aren't even on my website (or may not have even seen my site yet, let alone any FAQ), so much of it's from eBay, paypal, or people who are using eBay's "Ask Seller a Question" feature, or people through LiveJournal, folks who found me through Elfwood, Epilogue, etc. Also "The Art of Faery" was just released (got mine in stock yesterday) and it has my email address in there, and I'm already getting people who have found me through there.

I think what I'll eventually have to do is hire somebody to sit and read my emails aloud to me while I am painting, and then I'll be able to dictate (while I'm still painting) what they need to write, lol. I'd have Matt do it, but he's already in charge of printing and shipping which is a full-time job. Can't complain too much though - it means business is good!!!

Ah, right... I see. I was thinking of fanmail through your website. Because I have a special address for that, which is filtered through the mail server.

I see now that with all the possibilities, Elfwood, Ebay... they all need personal responses. So much work! But yeah, it means that business is going great. You need a personal assistant!! lol

The Art Of Faery, absolutely on my wish list.

Maybe Matt can become your personal assistant & answer emails & package stuff :).

Hehe, I've already hired him to do all of my printing and shipping! The email is different, because so much of it requires specific personal responses from me.

awww, that's an awful long time. if there was someway i could, i would help you with your email. :)

maybe pick a couple of close friends who you know spend a lot of time on the computer and teach them all about you and your art, and they could maybe help try and weed out some of the email for you?

OMG! Totally ignore the e-mail I sent you a couple of days ago!! If I had known you were so bogged down, I wouldn't have asked you so many questions;) Anyway, I received a teeny bit of help from the Epilogue boards. Not any overall help, but they did tell me to fix the leaf in the Greta Glasswing painting. I think I knew that already. I was just in denial! LOL I just needed it pointed out by an independent viewer. Anyhoo, I don't want you to lose any precious painting time on my silly e-mail. You need to save that time for taking nudie pics;) LOL Congrats on the popularity of those paintings btw!

And Mischief looks so much more amazing in person:) I am so happy I had a second chance!! I would love to have all the residents framed for Christmas:) HAPPY PAINTING JASMINE:)
