Alchemy Angel - Original "Creation" - Triptych/Altarpiece painting... I love it!

Hi everyone!

Sorry I've been quiet lately - but it's been worth the wait, I think! =)

Between the holiday rush of orders & other paintings, etc. - Matt (kaokame) and I have been collaborating on a project!

With Matt's birthday money last month he was able to build up the frameshop/woodshop he's been putting together over the years, and finally he's gotten to the point where we can create some pretty amazing stuff!

I've always been fascinated with Medieval & Renaissance altarpieces - triptychs, diptychs, polytychs, etc. - big framed wooden pieces with multiple panels and ornate mouldings - I've been obsessed with them for years. It's always been my goal to eventually work my artwork into similar fomrats. So here's our first attempt at aRenaissance altarpiece-style wooden triptych!

It is a "triptych" which means that it is actually three paintings on panels, divided by golden frames - a sort of "3 in 1" type of piece. It is called "Alchemy Angel" - a gothic angel type creature is in the central panel - her arms crossed and arcane symbols adorn her gown. On the left panel is the Alchemist - a recurring character in my work - wearing a plague doctor mask! On the right hand panel is a thoughtful skeleton. I have always wanted to create a work like this, and by collaborating with my husband and his workshop, I truly have made my dream a reality. I am very proud of this painting. It really has to be seen in person to appreciate it! My husband Matty handcrafted the panel & frame out of wood! I then hand painted all of the gold details on mouldings/framing myself - it is so cool! Yes it the "frame" (attached to the panel to form the border & triptych is included!). It is READY TO HANG and is really stunning, finished with a glossy varnish. It is about 24" wide by 20" tall in the center - original acrylic painting on wood (lightweight, easy to hang, around 1" thick with the framing). She is up for a 7-day auction on eBay starting at just a penny with NO reserve - the auction will be ending on the evening of Thursday, December 20th at 7:06 PM Central Time. I can't believe Matt turned a pile of scrap lumber into this, wow! (and of course, I helped by painting it, hehe).

Let me know what you think! If this works out, I plan on doing a lot of this type of thing - it really made me feel fun and creative. I have all sorts of mad fancies in my head now with new ideas....
