A break..... [Oct. 25th, 2003|01:09 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Matt's out grabbing a new bucket, so I thought I'd update. And plug my step-sister Sonya (dedlobster)'s artwork! She is an artist and graphic designer, and she is just now getting some things posted online. She does wonderful cityscapes! She hasn't at all started on her site (it's just the default template thingy), so don't hold that against her, lol. Here's a link: http://www.sonyabaughman.com/page3.html The top piece, a Kansas City cityscape really reminded me of "home" for a second! It was such a different place than where I live now, it's so bizarre......

OK - back to working on the bedroom.....

It's neat, because we're not related by blood (she's my step-sister), and when we were in high school we were always known as the two girls who did all of the art stuff. Even before my father married her mother, people always assumed we were related since we were both always sitting around together painting!

Nope - I forget if they are oil or acrylic, but they are "traditional" paintings. I've seen the first one in person, and it's HUGE!

YOUR sis's paintings

your sisters paintings are so awesome. She should travel ie: Chicago and paint the buildings there. It does bring good memories back to me--sort of peaceful memories where i grew up in Chicago til 10 years old when moved to the suburbs. I often wonder what'd be like if i hadn't moved. the worse/best...anyways, i keep in touch with a friend there STILL since 3 years old...when i visit my mom and brother, i make it a point to visit her and husband, kids, even her mom/dad, and 2 sisters. I do miss being in the city...wonderful memories. Has your sis consider traveling and getting a feel of ideas of the different architectures with styles of life??? or getting stories from people and putting them into a painting? I love art, and it seems like my love for art is growing since i met you, Jasmine...not only the colors, style of strokes, types of paintings, but the meanings-expression of feelings etc. you tell your sis, to hurry and get her website done. Laura

Re: YOUR sis's paintings

Hi Laura!!! She travels a lot, and I'm sure she'll tackle all sorts of cities! She even gets commissioned by people to paint their hometowns, and that sort of thing. With a such a great subject as cityscapes, there's an almost infinite number of paintings one could create! There are so many cities out there! Lol, I'm sure some are a lot more picturesque than others though!!!

Yay! We're done!!! Hehe, it kinda took a long time, because we have absolutely no overhead lights in there and we haven't bought lamps yet, so when the sun started setting we had to quit, lol!!!! It's dark now, so we'll have to wait until tomorrow to take off the masking tape, etc. and see how it really looks!
