Good afternoon! [Oct. 23rd, 2003|02:43 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
We're getting ready to go buy paint to do our bedroom! We spoke to the apartment people and they said they didn't care what colour or how we painted it at all, as long as it was back to normal when we moved out. Hurrah! I'm still going to choose a nice neutral shade, because I won't want it to be to much of a pain to cover it up.

As far as my own painting (the art kind, lol) I'll probably get to that this evening! I want to do another piece with the same sort of viney-trees as in my "Protector of the Vines" painting. I'll post here when I begin painting tonight! In the meantime, you can watch my beautiful Dollfie holding my sign, lol - here!

Lol thank you! That is actually how I first found about about Super Dollfies - a Japanese fan saw my photo on my website and thought I looked like Dollfie, lol!!! This little girl on my webcam just came in the mail today. I still need to paint her face (she doesn't have any eyebrows yet, lol), and dress her up! I figured since she has long black hair, she can be a Little Strangeling for my webcam when I'm not painting =)

I love Dollfies!!!! You'd probably like them too - lots of people dress them in kimonos and make them up Geisha style! They are very expensive though ($400-$2000), and addictive, lol - watch out! Here
is the official site:

The big Japanese brands of Gothic&Lolita clothing even license their designs to Dollfies - http://www.volks.co.jp/c_goods/superdollfie/topframeset.html

And here's another site, with lots of pictures:

Hehe - I should find a good boy one for Matt!!!!

Hehe - I just got this one in the mail today =) I bought her from another member of Den of Angels (a Yahoo group for Asian Resin Customizable Ball-Jointed Dolls {ie Dollfies and Dollfie-like dolls}). Since she looks like me I'm going to use her for cheering up my webcam when I'm gone, lol. She has 14-point articulation too, like an artists' mannequin, so I think I'll keep her by my desk to use her if I need a quick pose reference.

I'll use my regular paints on her - since she's a solid, durable resin, I can remove them easily if I mess her up, lol. She's a "Mini" size (still 16", which is big, but not as big as a regular "Super Dollfie" which is about 22") and I don't have any clothes for her yet, so she has to hold up the sign for modesty. I ordered her a cute little satin slip though, so soon she'll be decent, hehe.

Benjamin Moore makes good wall paint, it's more expensive but it really makes a huge difference, they have lovely finishes and colours, i have used them for years on the walls.

Semi gloss ( cleanable cause of balto but not too shiny ) and eggshell finishes are nice, and remember, the color of the paint chip looks darker on the wall, for some reason :-)

We went with some Behr Premium called "Donegal Tweed". We had the guy at the paint counter show us a dry example, and I did a little Photoshopping at home to make sure I'd like it, hehe! I'll post pics when we're done painting - we'll probably get to it tomorrow morning. I'm so excited! My dad is a painter (of buildings, houses, etc. not the sort of painter I am, lol, but he is a good artist too) and I've watched him and helped him all of my life, so I think I'll be able to do it ok, hehe - there's only one way to find out!
