|A nice evening =)

I had a wonderful evening!!!! I bought TONS of new supplies, I went nuts grabbing lots of new brushes - they have these new Golden Taklon (a synthetic fiber) brushes that have a 100% plastic handle with a rubber grip. I HATE brushes with painted wooden handles - the paint always flakes off the first time I use them, and it gets all over. These new brushes are cool - I got a couple in every size. I got tons of new paints, some new colours I've never had before, and some pads of canvas as well. Office Max was OUT of my usual mailing tubes, unfortunately. Argh!!! We got some oversized big tubes instead =P I need to start ordering them wholesale, so I could buy like 500 of them and not have to worry about running out every day. |
Matt's getting some prints ready to go out tomorrow (that's what you see in my webcam right now, lol). We ate at the Garden Cafe tonight - we love that place!!!!! It's a 100% vegetarian Chinese restaurant in Orlando - it's one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. They have over 100 entrees - and they are all vegetarian! They use meat substitutes for everything - we had Vegetarian Sweet & Sour Pork and Vegetarian Kung Pao Chicken! It's soooo good - hard to believe it's meatless! We've gone there lots of times already, and we keep going back. kenderdrache - I scanned in the menu and I'll upload it asap for you to see - it's too cool!
Tomorrow will be a painting day - probably all day long!!!!
Oh! I just started using those brushes after I saw them on sale at Michaels! They are SO awesome! But too expensive for me to but a lot, lol :( And that restaurant sounds so yummy!
*LOL* I can relate with more than one thing here...
I have the same problem with painted wooden handled brushes.
AND Office Max never has the mailing tubes I need in stock.
I ended up just buying a ton online for cheap at Anchor Box.
Here's a link, but I'm sure you can find them other places too.http://www.anchorbox.com//mailtbu.htm
Those Taklons sound sweet! I've seen some comfort handles in the Blick catalog but not with the rubber grip. Of course my Michael's & Hobby Lobby are both across the Mississippi River, and I HATE GOING OVER THE RIVER! LOL
I'm so glad Matt is in charge of prints now! :D That really leaves you so much more time to paint! (Thank him for me! LOL)
I'm curious about this Vegetarian Kung Pao Chicken! I LOVE Kung Pao Chicken, it's by far my favorite dish but how do they make it without the chicken? Is it done with meatless chicken or just the veggies and noodles with the sauce?
It's made with meatless chicken which is soooo yummy! They have fake versions of every type of meat - even yucky things like abalone and squid! Lol, I had the Combination Lo Mein and it had fake shrimp in it, and I almost gagged - they tasted too much like real shrimp (I had seafood before when I was a little girl, and I didn't like it, yuck!!).
I don't know if you remeber me..but I posted a comment in the faerie_art_club comm and you emailed me about new artists and blah blah blah.Just wanted to let ya know I added you.
And yes,I love the brushes with the plastic handle and rubber grips on them! There was a sale at Micheals oncec and I got 2 for like $3.
I want that restaurant! I'm so tired of the Chinese places around here- most of them offer only one or two vegetarian dishes, and they don't try very hard to make them yummy!
Aw, but I like how the painted wooden brushes flake everywhere and puff up when you leave them in the water! Hee hee! Actually, I prefer the wooden brushes and have managed to avoid the paint flaking thing lately. I think the ones with the yellow handles are better than the ones with the red.
There's a band in Portland called The Kung Pow Chickens!
Yay, new painting stuff! And with Matt doing your prints now, we get so see even more paintings from you ^_^ Hehe, I would teach my Ryan how to do my prints for me, but he already cooks and cleans my apartment for me, lol!
Hmm...I've never used the store bought mailing tubes. Everywhere I've seen them they are at least $2.00. I just order mine from usps.com, they are free!
Hey Lindsey - are the tubes from USPS.com actual cylindical tubes? Or are they those triangular shaped thingies?
Hi, they're the triangular ones. I just wrap up the rolled painting in lots of bubble wrap and tape it tightly before I put it in the tube. I haven't had any problems yet!
