only going to accept commissions that fall into my typical style and genre. I've had too many portrait-type painting commissions that eat waaaaay into my time, and aren't my typical types of paintings. There are enough portrait artists out there who I'm sure would be happy to tackle them!!! I'm working on a Photoshop sketch for a really cool vampire commission, but I thought I'd take a quick break update here! I almost always do a layout for commissions in Photoshop first, so if the client wants changes, or things flipped around, I can do it before anything's set on paper or in paint. After I finish up these last few commissions, I'm probably going to raise my pricelist again. I've been getting too many requests (not that I can complain about that, hehe) and it's eating into my own painting time. Also, my originals are sometimes selling for more than my commission pricelist, so that's usually a sign that I need to increase my prices! Commissions take considerably longer to paint than my original paintings do, so I need to reflect that in my pricing. I'm also thinking about revising my policies to state that (with a few exceptions!) I'm |
In other news - I finished up my Green Goddess painting!!!! I love it so much - I think it's one of the best pieces I've done. I spent sooo much time on it, and put in so much detail, I'm definitely setting it in my eBay store at a fixed price (probably $650 or so, since it's a 16"x20" with so many different characters!). I'll probably get to painting in not too long, after I email off the sketch to Kagome, but I'll post here first to link the webcam!
I absolutely do not blame you for raising your commissions prices. I just did that myself, lol. I was getting ridiculus requests for landscapes and such, which is something I have NEVER done before, lol. Not that my paintings sell for a ton on eBay, but I just truly hate commissions that I don't "feel" if that makes any sense.
As for your new painting, you really ought to put a higher price on it Jas! At least 700 for one that big and detailed! (IMHO at least, lol ;)..)
Well, have fun with the vamp piece! I do wich I was able to see all of the commissions you do! They sound just awesome!
Thank you Kayti!!!!!!!
Hehe, I think I'll stick with $650 for the store price. After I raise my commission fees I'll probably increase my store prices a little too, but right now I'm just testing the waters. I've already received a couple of emails from people interested in the piece after just having seen it on my webcam!
I've got some 18"x24" canvas sheets I'm dying to work on - I might have some more paintings for my store very soon! I'll probably charge considerably more for them, maybe $800 or so for the detailed ones (that's really big for me!).
After I finish this commission maybe I'll ask permission of the client to post it here on LJ!
I agree with Kayti! Higher..higher..I know for sure it will sell..as soon as you put it on your ebay store!
I saw the painting and am really happy you are going to ask more for it. It is absolutely beautiful. You truly deserve to ask for more for your originals. And with the commisions, that is way cool that you are going to take control. People should be asking for pictures that are characteristic of the style that you have developed. I think that is the whole point to asking a specific artist to make a painting is to gain a painting that reflects their talents. Maybe I have no clue what I am talking about - But it seems to me what would be the point of asking Salvador Dali to make a pretty landscaping picture or portrait..seems his talent was a little more in depth than that(no offense to landscaping or portrait artists-i can barely draw stick figures.)

HEllo Jasmine---i saw your painting yesterday night and stayed up until
you finished it!!!!!!!!!!! It is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!! I don't see
it in your ebay store or website...what store is it in...just came home
from work and thought about it all day...now that is terrible!!! LOL!
my day, uh? Anyways, please let me know...i like to see it face to face bigger than the webcam that is only shown sideways. Thanks Laura
Hi Laura!!!! I haven't put her in my eBaystore yet ( http://www.ebaystores.com/strangelingsartgallery
) - probably in a couple of hours though!!!!! You'll get an email from me!
My eBaystore can also be found just by looking at my auctions - a "store item" are technically not an auction, since it runs until it is purchased, and has a fixed price (kinda like a permanent "Buy-It-Now"!).
