paintings..... [Oct. 3rd, 2003|05:06 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
I'm getting ready to paint! You can watch me on my webcam =)

In other news, I am going to be re-vamping my eBay store! I have decided to better make use of it, since I don't really use its features and I am paying for it after all =) I'd like everything to flow smoothly particularly since The Art of Faery will be in stores soon, and I will probably get some more visitors! Don't worry - my "Original Paintings Starting At A Penny With No Reserve" auctions will run as usual, unchanged =) However, I will be ADDING some new store items IN ADDITION to my regular auctions!

Rather than my "Mix&Match" style print auctions (to better comply with eBay's TOS, =P ) I will now offer separate prints individually in different categories, sizes, etc. It will be easier to navigate and easier to add new prints quicker as I create new paintings!

Also - I will be stocking my "Originals" section of the store (don't worry, separate from my penny auctions!) with some original paintings in a "Buy-It-Now" format! I have had many requests from my customers (who are sometimes impatient {hehe} and don't like the traditional auction format) to offer some fixed-price paintings. It seems a lot of people would like to use the "Buy-It-Now" option but by the time they see the auction, it's already received a bid and the BIN option is gone. So this way, those who like the thrill of the auction and are on more of a budget can still bid on my usual penny auctions, and those who prefer to purchase my art straight out can shop through my eBay store! Fixed price originals will mostly consist of larger, more detailed pieces, and will be priced similarly to my Buy-It-Now prices (roughly $200-$1200) and will remain in my store until purchased.

Since Matt has taken over my printing and shipping duties, I now have more time to paint, so I will still be able to offer as many penny auctions as ever before, and the Fixed-Price originals will just be an additional facet to my store =)

OK - off to paint!

Sounds like a terrific marketting strategy! Hope the collectors come out of the woodwork for you once the book goes public! :)

AAAAHHHHHHHHH ebay.....sigh!

Man that really sucks Jasmine. Ebay is so screwed up, they took my friend off, he was selling old rare movies of Buster Keaton, and Charlie Chaplin, and other rare movies, and they took him off because someone had complained about him. Even though everything he is doing is perfectly legal, the movies are so old they have no copyright laws on them, they are public domain. SOME PEOPLE! Anyway, it sounds like you have a good plan though as far as selling your prints. I wish you luck on it! It sounds like it will be more successful honestly. So good luck!

Re: AAAAHHHHHHHHH ebay.....sigh!

eBay is getting waaaay too trigger happy with that cancel button! I've noticed that for the most part they like enforcing their TOS when it means that another method would be more profitable to them(ie, more eBay fees, lol).

Indeed - public domain is in effect if it was published before 1923!

That sounds like a great plan! :) Hehe! I will probably follow your lead with this store plan too since the mix and match is now a no go ;) You have such great marketing ideas!
