Good morning! [Sep. 23rd, 2003|11:28 am]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
I'm getting ready to dye my hair - same colour as always, I just need to touch up my blonde roots before it starts looking really tacky, lol. I hate dyeing my hair. It's annoying and messy. I've never been to a hair salon - from what I've heard though, they would charge an ungodly amount to colour hair as long as mine. So, I do it in the sink =P

After it's safely rinsed out (no danger of blue-black drips!) I will start some painting! I'll post here when I begin with a link to my webcam.

Hehe - worse yet - since my natural colour is so light, when I tied it back in a ponytail yesterday from a distance it looked like I was trying to cover up a massive bald spot. Ewww!

What dye do you use? I've just started using Bigen and I like it SO much better than the goop-in-a-bottle stuff. It's much less messy, and I seem to have an easier time getting all my roots, since I have to brush on the dye instead of squirting it on.

Oooh! I've never seen that! Do you get it from a salon or just at a drugstore?

I use Feria's "Starry Night". It works pretty well for me, and I love the colour, but it's so messy!

I just buy it at Sally Beauty Supply or the drugstore - it's usually mixed in with the ethnic hair cair products. It's Japanese and it comes in a wee bottle of powder you just mix with water, then brush on with a dye brush. I love it! And it's only about 5.00 a package. I've used Feria before, but it washed right out. This stuff seems to last a lot longer in my hair.

You suit the colour, though I'd like to see what you look like with red hair.

And a buzz cut would save you a lot of trouble;)

... and then you'll have the fun hair-dye skin disease... purply splotches on the neck and hairline and fingers...

i want to go red again this winter. we'll see if i can find my preferred brand and color. i think it may have been discontinued!

I've done my own hair for years now...I cut it into a bob shape (shorter in the back, longer in front.) Stupid hairdressers never did it the way I wanted, hehe. The salon is sooooo expensive too, my mom goes there just to get color and highlights and they charge her $120! I don't care that much about my hair to pay that, lol :)

They DO charge a lot

I finally went to a hair salon to treat myself to something nice. It was great! I got my hair layered in such a way that made it look longer and now it gets curlier, too. They also dyed my hair closer to my natural color but with a little red in it. It was AWESOME and they did a really great job but BOY did it cost some $$$$. I got some Aveda hair care products, though, and while I prolly won't get my hair dyed professionally again, I will get it trimmed every now and again and keep purchasing Aveda stuff. It's so niiiiiiice on my hair! I think the best part was the scalp massage, though...very relaxing.
