A good mood! [Sep. 20th, 2003|10:36 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
I'm in such a good mood - for one thing, I got my emailbox down to the LIGHTEST it's ever been in YEARS. Only 18 emails in there ::::GASP:::: They are all ones I need to leave as reminders for tomorrow or that I still need to respond to. Wow - I'm in shock! It's been forever since I've been able to get my inbox in the two digits!!!

On top of that, I've finished what might be one of The Best Paintings I've Ever Painted. Not to get your hopes up, or anything ;) I'm so happy with how it turned out - it's so big (16"x20", big for me!) and gorgeous I can't believe it. Not to toot my own horn or anything ;) It has so many faeries in it, of all sorts, and I love it! I'm far too drained to scan it in tonight, but I should have it ready by tomorrow. You can kinda see it on my webcam right now here but it's sideways and kinda blurry, lol. I'll put it up on eBay tomorrow. As much as I hate to - I'd really like to keep this one. I guess I'll have to make do with a print. I'm half-tempted to stick in my eBay store for $10,000.00 or something.... But no, I think I'll start it off at a penny as always.

OK - I'm going to check out everybody's latest LJ activity and then do some reading. I'll get to some more painting tomorrow ;)

I just went and looked at your cam. You were right, it is a masterpiece. It's beautiful. Are you going to start painting on bigger canvas' more often?

I think I might! At least once in a while. I like being able to fit so much more detail!

Actually, I've been thinking about making some bigger, extra special pieces to put in my eBay store. Hehe, I always say that, and then I end up auctioning them =P

Aw... I think it would be a great idea. It works for the other artist powersellers, why not you?

::a week later I respond::

I'm seriously going to try doing that sometime soon. I just need to get enough pieces up for regular auction to make me feel comfortable that I'm not going to be hurting my income at all by spending extra time on a special project!

One thing I've been thinking about doing is maybe buying some antique ornate frames - like those found on religious icons or even a carved triptych or shrine for me to re-hab and paint my own work into. That would be so cool - and different and special enough to warrant a higher pricetag and a place in my eBay store!

Yes it would be! Remember, you sell pieces with the buy it now option for $400 + all the time. So having $500 or $600 pieces in your store, especially ones that you really put effort into and were framed, they'd sell so fast you'd have a hard time keeping your store stocked ;)

Hehe, yeah, I know - I just get nervy that some of my fans would feel betrayed, lol. I remember during a particularly lean after-Christmas slowdown a couple of years ago I started listing some pieces at $20 (not that much really) and people freaked out! But I suppose as long as I still offer plenty of "penny auctions" the mobs will be sated =) I think I just worry too much, lol.
