webcam!I'm painting! You may watch me work on my |
I'm still working on a little tree frog - he's cute so far!
I've been watching you for a while now and I have to say that I think you are so talented!! (you don't need me to tell you that, but I just wanted to let you know)
And the frog and fairy girl are looking awesome!
I hope you don't mind me adding you to my friends list?
Thank you very much!!!!
I am honoured to be on your friends list =)
Aww, someday I'll figure out how to see your webcam on my Mac!
Argh, I wish it would work on both platforms! I get so many sad emails from Mac users =( I'm looking into better webcam hosting (it's HARD finding free or cheap hosting that'll let me broadcast 24/7) so hopefully I'll get something that'll work for everybody!
I'll look into it for ya, I'll help you figure it out! :-D
First I need to see it *working* so I can see what it's supposed to be doing... I guess I can bring it up in IE on my PC for that!
It is viewed through Yahoo's Webcam Viewer. On most computers, upon first visit to a webcam hosted with Yahoo, one would receive a prompt to download the viewing software (though lots of newer computers have it in there already). I'm not sure if the Yahoo program is compatible with Macs, since the only folks I've had have difficulty with it seem to be Mac users!
With Safari and IE on Mac, and Mozilla on Windows, I get the same result each time: the page just comes up with the "welcome" paragraph and a "Return to Website" link, and no picture of you painting.
But with IE on Windows, I get asked if I want to run an applet, and that brings up the image of your painting on your desk with all your paints there...
So it looks like it might not work on anything *but* IE for Windows! Aww. I wonder if there are other webcam programs which might work with more browsers? Someone else would probably have a better knowledge of what's available than I do...
Yeah - it'll work for AOL and Internet Explorer, but not Netscape or Safari. According to my web traffic reports, 95% of my visitors are using AOL or IE, so the vast majority can access it. However, some of my regular customers and "biggest fans" are Mac users and I don't want to leave people out! Not to mention, Yahoo's webcam hosting is CRAP and only pushes the .jpgs at a .05 frame per second rate at best (so it only uploads a snapshot every other second, which is hardly streaming).
I have tried four other hosts, all free, that have wonderfully fast imaging and much higher resolution, BUT they will not work on my computer. After endless investigation, it seems that it has something to do with the built-in firewall that came with Windows XP, and I can't figure out how to open a port for it. Do you know anything about that kind of stuff?
Do bears bear? Do bees bee? :-D I live and breathe that sort of stuff! I'd be thrilled to help ya figure it out if I can!
Matt's mom is visiting with us for about a week - maybe after that you could come over and take a look! That would be WONDERFUL!
I hope both of you are having a good time with her! And when she leaves, then we can catch up and have fun, 'kay? :)
