Good to see you back Jasmine.
Its funny, Autumn has kind of inflected my newest piece too. Great minds think alike.
Take it easy.
it seems like every post i've read of yours lately, you're sick, getting better, or getting sick again- it's ridiculous! give your immune system a good ol' shake...
Urk, I know =( I had the stomach flu, and I handn't quite rid myself of it before Matt passed along his headcold. =P
are you using any sort of immune booster tincture or anything while your sick?
Just vitamins and DayQuil/NyQuil. Blah. It's just that this cold came right when I was getting the flu - double whammy!
Ugh, yes it does! I received a few emails about this already, I'm not sure what I should do. One of my collectors thought that this one WAS one of my thoughtful fairies (especially since she titled it #1, lol) and wanted to check with me first!
I actually contacted this seller almost a year ago - she was doing the same thing a while back, and then she stopped. ARGH! This makes me mad. Very bad choice to copy too, since "The Art of Faery" book coming out next month actually has my Thoughtful Fairy #3 in it, hehe....
This seller's looks kinda like a cross between this #6: http://www.strangeling.com/thoughtfulfairy6.jpg
and a little bit of #3 http://www.strangeling.com/thoughtfulfairy3.jpg
but with the pink colours of my #5http://www.strangeling.com/thoughtfulfairy5.jpg
It's weird - somebody just posted in my journal that they wanted me to do some more Thoughtful Fairies.
It irks me that some of the copy-catting has been going on with fellow EBSQ members. =(
Yeah! They also have the nerv to call it ..original..did you see the title of the painting:
THE FAIRY EXPERIMENT...that is exacly what she is doing..but selling it!
Oh Jasmine..this must make you go nuts..it happens more and more often!
And i know that your thoughful faeries are your favorites..right?

This was something I unfortunately did about a month ago myself to Jasmine's work. I had seen her stuff of course, it's gorgeous!!! But I had no idea one of my paintings looked like hers. Subconsciously (I swear!) I had basically done a derivative piece. When she contacted me, I was absolutely sick!! No joke, I had a migraine over the weekend and could not stop obsessing over the whole thing for a week. I thought about pulling the piece from ebay, but felt bad because it had been bid on. So, I put an amendment at the end letting buyers know it was unwitting on my part that it looked like Jasmine's work. After that whole ordeal, I wanted to run from ebay and hide because I was sure everyone would think I was a fraud. (I still worry I'm on a hit list after that one!) But the really great thing is, Jasmine has the biggest heart! After I spoke with her about it and did some explaining, she took the time to encourage me to keep going!! It is horrible to be known as a copycat! It is more harmful to imitate someone's excellent work than to do your own mediocre originals. I even e-mailed Jasmine after it happened just to have her look at a couple of my pieces to make sure I hadn't done it twice. Sorry for this long post, I've been couped up all day, and maybe this is something I wanted to get off my chest! All I can say is, if someone makes an honest mistake, Jasmine is the NICEST artist I have met. I still feel awful that I did that, and being new to ebay, I had no idea this was something she deals with daily! I know the old saying, "Imitation is the highest form of flattery", is of no consolation when it feels like everyone is coasting on the tails of your hard work. So, I hope you find some peace somewhere in all of this Jasmine. You definitely have the attention of the faeries!:)
Let me guess... Misty? ;)
Hi there!!! In your case, you were a complete sweetheart about the whole thing - it worked out positively for both of us =) I very much appreciated that you took the time to listen to my thoughts on the matter! You are right - this sort of thing does happen almost every day it seems, hehe.
You are welcome to post here whenever you like! That's what my journal is for. I'm always happy to hear from fans and fellow artists =)
Oh I am sure that could happen..and I am not saying they should stop...I love the way Jasmine takes care of this matters! Just like her..I hope that they can find their own style..something that goes with them!
But like Jasmine said.."I actually contacted this seller almost a year ago - she was doing the same thing a while back, and then she stopped. ARGH!". Then it's not a matter of a mistake..
I feel the same way sometimes..and I loose myself confidence, but I think to myself..that I can do better..explore and find myself in my paintings!
I am sure you have a good heart..and you did not mean to make a copy of Jasmine's work!
By the way..where can we see your artwork?
I love meeting Artist..and specially rockies like myself.

Yes, it's me, MISTY*!! This just proves how wonderful Jasmine is! She never forgets ya':)Thanks Jasmine and Rubidia! You are both wonderfully supportive:)
Rubidia, I'm actually on ebsq too. That's why I especially looked like a dufus after the whole thing:( Anyway, http://gossamerfaery.ebsqart.com. I have tried to start my own website, but I find every bit of it HARD!! I want to get my own mistybenson.com/gossamerfaery.com, but I am still trying to figure out which host to use, who has the best deal for the best package, etc. I am computer challenged and would love to have a course that would at least drag me through some basic stuff. If you are interested, this is the first attempt at my own website http://gossamerfaery.home.comcast.net.
I can't wait to look up your work Rubidia:) Yea!! I love seeing what other artists create!
Oh I have seen your work on Ebay!
your website thing is looking good!
Oh you did those pieces ?
So different ! I haven't saw them before !
( do you hide them in a secret basement ?? ^_- ) It look like the backgrounds I sometime do too ! ^___^ So funny !! I love those kinds of backgrouds, I mean, I got more success with that than doing only white backgrounds ...
Have you done them with watercolor ? I just acrylic and lot of water for them ... and after I put them under heavy books for couple of hours ...
Yep! I did most of my "Thoughtful Fairies" maybe two years (or two and a half) ago. I love them - they were fun to do! The backgrounds are liquid watercolours and the faeries are acrylic.
Thoughtful Fairy #3 is going to be in "The Art of Faery" book. Somebody just emailed me a photo of themselves - they just had Thoughtful Fairy #3 tattooed on their back! I'm going to post a picture of it later tonight!
At first when I looked at it I didn't see it but now that I clicked back and forth I can see that it is the same pose and background, but different colors.
