Working.... [Aug. 25th, 2003|07:15 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Whew! I'm getting lots of work done, but not a lot of painting =P I finished some digital sketches for a commission, and doing a bunch of website and book-keeping stuff. I have a lot more on my to-do list than I realized - I'm not sure if I'll get to painting Alice tonight or not. If not tonight, then definitely tomorrow. Right now I'm going to make dinner, since Matt and I are STARVING! I'm going to make peanut-tofu & waterchestnut Thai lettuce wraps with vegetable spring rolls. Yum!

so do you use a firmer type of tofu? jen eats tofu and she uses tofu mate seasoning packets and tells me they are really good but one of the biggest problems i have with tofu is the texture and im thinking a firmer texture may be more appatising....

Oh yes - definitely! I ONLY like tofu if it is is chewy or crunchy. I hate blobbery tofu, lol. What I do is buy the "extra firm" variety and I cut into very small pieces (to maximize the surface area) and then I flash-fry it in oil, so it gets nice and crunchy on the outside. The only time I use tofu really is in Asian cooking. The rest of the time I infinitely prefer wheat gluten or texturized soy protein based fake meats!

hmm, im going to have to check out some of that wheat gluten stuff, i dont think i have ever tried it. have you ever had "island spring" tofu or other products? i dont know how far they ship stuff to but they are here on the island. the leftover tofu water stuff gets fed to the cows on the farm here where i live:)

How neat!! I don't think I've tried that (I'm about as far away from you as you can get in the continental USA, lol). That is really cool!
