Preparing to paint.... [Jul. 22nd, 2003|04:37 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Well, we dropped off mom at the airport this morning, and now Matt's off with foxmagic hoping to catch a ride on Mission Space (which is unofficially allowing some riders before the grand opening), so I'm here by myself, enjoying a salad, and preparing to paint!

I should be ready in a few minutes, and you can watch me here!

Yep, exactly =) I can't wait to go see Mission Space though!!!

Yeah, I've gotta paint! I get almost ill if I go more than a day without it, hehe. I've got such a huge amount of unanswered email too - eek!

Do I see a two headed girl? Or is that twins? I love this one so far! I really like the monochromatic type painting you've been doing lately! :)

Thank you =) I used to work almost completely monochromatically, and sometimes I fall into that mood again from time to time =)

Right now I'm working on my piece for the upcoming EBSQ show - "Cirque" (a gothic themed circus show). It's the first in a series I'm calling "Cirque du Noir" which is based on old posters for sideshow acts (like this one: http://www.sideshow-art.com/2headed.html ). The one I'm working on now features a "Two-Headed Girl" which is really of course a set of conjoined twins. I'm kinda going for the idea that the advertisements for the sideshows portrayed a glamorous fantastical sort of idealized version of the rather sad reality and exploitation. We'll see =)

Very cool! I can't wait to see all the "Cirque du Noir" pieces! I love the old-time sideshow acts! After the EBSQ show, will you be selling them? I'm not to sure how the show works, this is all new to me!

EBSQ ( http://www.ebsqart.com ) will have just an online show, so I might even sell her before the show (whenever she's finished) =)
