Running errands! [Jun. 5th, 2003|02:17 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith
I've had a fun day of running errands with Matt & Kachina. We went to the mall, and the post office (I mailed tons of stuff!).

Yesterday I spent all my birthday money! I bought some trousers at Hot Topic and some more at some other mall store, and some lovely shirts. I also bought a brand new fancy webcam!!!! I'll have to figure that out and hook it up later, hehe - it should be really cool =)

I also bought some books on Art Nouveau (I'd like to do some Art Nouveau inspired pieces!!!) and Brian Froud's Faery Oracle cards (like tarot cards but all Faery-ish). We went to Disney World last night and ate at Boma (African buffet) which was one of the best restaurants ever! The vegetarian array was incredible! Lentil balls, polenta, three types of hummus, breads, black-eyed peas, grilled vegetables, half a dozen different salads, potatoes, sweet potatoes, grilled tofu, other vegetables, fresh fruits and 15 fancy dessert selections! We ate so much!

Right now we're eating some vegetarian bratwursts (yum). After that I'm going to buckle down and get some work done! I'll update with a link once I start =)

Oh yes - I got scans of The Art of Faery showing my pages! It looks great - I sound thoughtful and professional and the layout is awesome =) I also found out that I'll be able to sell the book directly from me (like on my website or eBay store) so that I can offer signed copies!

That's awesome Jasmine! I really can't wait to see the book! It's been a while since a new book on faeries came out! And I don't think I've ever seen a collaboration as grand as this one all in one binding!

OH it sounds like you ate well! YUM! Just thinking about it makes me hungry... A new webcam sounds VERY cool! I'll look forward to seeing the difference in cameras.

Anyway, I'm glad your "day" was perfectly lovely! How long will your sister be staying with you?

She's leaving on the 13th, so we've got her for awhile! She's about 5 months pregnant now - she's in maternity clothes now =)

I just hooked up the new webcam - it is so awesome! I still have the same crappy yahoo hosting for it (so it's still pretty slow) but it is soooo much clearer - it automatically adjusts for focus and lighting and everything. Someday I'll find better hosting (I'll probably end up getting a paid service eventually) but in the meantime this is MUCH better!!!! It's at the same URL: http://geocities.yahoo.com/webcam/public/jasminetoad

Let me know if it's working for you!

Re:

Five months? Thats GREAT!!! Well don't work too hard chica. Have as much fun as you can! I guess most of the big coasters are out, lol..

The web cam looks GREAT! Very cool indeed! I am quite intrigued with what you are painting =)

BTW- did you get a chance to read my early morning post about this artist who ganked your entire auction page; wording and layout? Hehe, its actually pretty amusing since Amie took care of it right away =)

Wow - I hadn't checked out my friends journals yet - I can't believe the nerve of some people! I mean, it takes just a few minutes to come up with one's own descriptions...grrr...

I just checked my email, and I had already received four emails from some of my regular bidders who were confused by his use of my auction text! A couple of them thought that it was perhaps some of my "earlier work" - lol!

I hope it gets taken care of quickly! I'm glad to hear that Amie is already on the case - she is such a sweetheart =)

I saw a Florida license plate a few days ago and thought of you. And it had a sticker that mentioned that they are vegetarian.

Ya! Shopping is fun when you've got the $$$!

I already pre-ordered my book from Amazon :( Will you still sign it for me when I come down there in October? :)

Hi Amie!!!!!

I'd love to do an interview or article for the zine!
The official release date (I believe) is October 5th =) I'll be selling signed copies on my website as soon as I get them!

Is there an EBSQ bookstore already? I was thinking about suggesting that, if there wasn't one yet! That would be a wonderful idea - to showcase any EBSQers that have books out, or collaborated on book projects, etc.

the book is a huge deal, we are all very proud of you, your art, your innovative ideas to get your art and your studio to the public, and stuff like that :-)

btw i LOVE african vegetarian food, i LOVE ethiopian food and that spongy bread, YUM. disney rocks, maybe we can do a disney weekend trip and stay in that hotel that is futuristic in the park that the monorail goes right to ... amie, let's do an EBSQ weekend next winter, maybe in January or February when the Northern world is grey? What fun ! And we can eat at this african vegetarian buffet :-)

i think i'll go for indian food tomorrow, we have some great indian food here, i may do a webcam next winter when setting up my NYC winter studio but i'll probably train the webcam on Balto, he's so cute :-)

yes, my uncle lives in Florida and sometimes I visit him, maybe I can drag amie and blu moo and april at least with me to florida to visit the Magic Kingdom on the way down, if i don't get more speeding tickets that is, LOL,

disney is WAY cool IMHO and always loved it there.

Also if I get a webcam all I have to do is train it on the couch, that's where Balto usually is when he's in the house. :-)

Sounds good!

Matt and I like to go "Resort Hopping" wheere we just hang out at the different Disney Resort Hotels and eat at the restaurants, etc. Eventually we plan to stay at all of them! (Castmember discount!).

The Grand Floridian resort is the most posh, but I think that the Wilderness Lodge or the Animal Kingdom Lodge look the best so far! The Contemporary is cool too - the monorail goes right through it. Actually, all of the resorts are really nice =)

sounds good, contemporary kind of wowed me when i was a kid and passing through there on the monorail, i think not the wilderness lodge as i am prolly living in a pretty fair rendition of the wilderness lodge in the summer ( LOL ;-) ) with the real live wilderness ( giant woodpeckers and bunnies and blue herons and BEARS and COYOTES and wild turkeys the SCARY things are in CAPS lol )

i will check into it ... might be fun for a few days this winter :-) something to work towards, and now, back to my lawn mowing before it gets full dark ( still light here at 830 which always amazes me )

full moon i think tonite, very very bright moon here ... not sure it's full moon tonight but i think so ...
