New Stuff - big update today!

I am BACK from Dragon*Con!  Thank you ALL who came out to see us (all eighty thousand of you!).  Other than catching the flu on the last day (ugh), this was our BEST Dragon*Con yet. We'll be back next year!  Be sure to click here to find out about my other upcoming events this autumn.

All of the new original paintings I did for Dragon*Con have been sold, but we will be releasing them as prints, Limited Edition Canvases, etc. throughout the week.  Today I'll be showing you Clockwork Dragonling and Unseelie Court: War

Also a reminder - the Kansas City Renaissance Festival has opened for the season!  I will be there in person September 27 & 28, and October 4 & 5, and the rest of the time my sister Amber & her family will be running my gallery - loads of art & merchandise there (whether I'm there or not, hehe). Click HERE for details about the show!

One more thing - on a personal note, I wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS to my husband Matty, for finishing up his first novel.  You can visit Matt on FacebookHERE (feel free to "friend" him or congratulate him.  He's always got interesting stuff to say!).  This coincides with my announcement that he'll also be contributing a short story or two for my upcoming sequel to my Strangeling art book (as well as my two sisters, of course!).  I'll actually be doing a couple of illustrations for the short story - stay tuned on my own Facebook this week for some sneak previews.

"Clockwork Dragonling"

12"x16" Original Acrylics on Panel, $4300 SOLD, prints & canvases HERE

A very special piece I debuted & sold this piece for the Dragon*Con 2014 Art Show - it was created for Dragon*Con's convention room key cards for the Hyatt Regency Atlanta (and also graced the back of the DragonCon pocket program books too!). I am so happy with how this one turned out - my little dragonling is clockwork - made of metal - and his fairy / angel companion has a definite steampunk flair with her aviator goggles and mechanical wings. Since it was a room key card design, I incorporated the "old" DragonCon logo into the shape of the key shown (and the "new" DragonCon logo was added up in the sky for the actual key card & promo materials - not shown).

The original painting has sold, but we have prints (signed by me on the back) starting at $9.99 as well as Limited Edition Canvas Prints hand embellished & numbered by me for only $125 here at Strangeling.com

Or if you prefer eBay, the $9.99 8x10 signed glossy prints are here

& the $19.99 12x16 signed glossy prints are here

and Lt. Ed. Canvases are here Please note that Lt. Ed. Canvases are selling FAST on this one.

And of course prints are up at our Etsy store

"Unseelie Court:  War"

16"x20" Original Acrylics on Panel, $5200 SOLD, prints & canvases HERE

The second painting in a series I'm debuting called "The Unseelie Court" - specifically for the subset inspired by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse - I debuted & sold this piece for the Dragon*Con 2014 Art Show. Each painting in my Unseelie Court series depicts important individuals or families within the Unseelie Court. Exploring the darker side of the Fairy Court, the Unseelie faeries take their theming from slightly unpleasant aspects of the magical and natural world. But of course despite being wicked they will have a beautiful and refinded elegance about them.... This particular painting in the series symbolizes "War". I tried to use a variety of imagery from the medieval times all the way up to contemporary or even futuristic war implements, trying to capture the timelessness and inevitability of war in general. The fabric of her camouflage dress fades into Gros' portrait of Napoleon & his troops on the viewer's right, and Goya's "Third of May" painting on your left. Lots of weapons, smoke, and violence in this one (at least compared to my more lighthearted works).

The dark raven and the white dove of peace weigh in on this human folly, the little banners they are carrying are written in Latin script and loosely translate to "War - What is it good for?" and "Absolutely Nothing" (from the Edwin Starr song, of course!).

The original painting has sold, but we have prints (signed by me on the back) starting at $9.99 as well as Limited Edition Canvas Prints hand embellished & numbered by me for only $125 here at Strangeling.com
