Jasmine's Japan Photos - PART ONE [Feb. 7th, 2009|06:34 pm]
Jasmine Becket-Griffith

All right!

A few months back (sometime between Dragon*Con and FaerieCon) I went to Japan with Matt (my husband), Amber (my sister) and Chris (Amber's husband). We had an awesome time, and took thousands of photos, lol.

Most photos I took would not be interesting to the general public, either family photos or else the infinite "art reference photos" I take of architectural details, interesting trees, odd light fixtures, stuff I'd like to paint, lol.

I have sorted through them all and have picked the more interesting photos for you to look at!

This is PART ONE of the odyssey - following our travels from our arrival in Osaka, through the countryside, to Kyoto, and up until Mt. Fuji. PART TWO will follow in a couple of days, which will have Mt. Fuji and Tokyo.

Please note all photos ©Jasmine Becket-Griffith, please do not use them for anything ;P

I have put these photos behind a cut / link for those of you not wanting to see them, lol - there are about 60 images in all. Click the link below to see them!

Part Two (Tokyo & Mt. Fuji) will follow soon! Enjoy!

How beautiful!

Reminds me of one of my good friends' trip over there. He spent 3 months at a university in rural Japan. AMAZING countryside.

And I love Pocky.

That bunny moon cake is the cutest thing!

Matt and I are starting to think it's time to visit Asia. We hope to visit my friend Esther in Korea this year, and next year her parents in China. Matt really wants to go to Tibet, and I really want to go to Japan. So many wonderful places to see!

OH MY, I am so jealous!!!!!!!!!!!! How gorgeous, thank you so much for sharing! You got to see a real maiko in person, how cool!!!!! She's so gorgeous, and what a beautiful kimono!

Do you speak Japanese? If not, did you find it difficult to get around? I don't speak it, and I don't imagine I will go for another five years or more, but I'm terrified of going when not being able to speak and read the language.

Thank you so much for sharing, I love to hear about other people's visits to Japan!

oh my gosh! I totally have to go there!! My friend who is Japanese said I should go with her, then she can show me around! hee hee! At least then I'd have a translator! Although I'm HOPING that by learning Chinese I'll maybe be able to muddle around on my own because the Characters are pretty much the same, just pronounced differently (so I've been told!)

Also, Paul said to tell you & Matt--"HEY!! SEATTLE is on the WAY to Japan! Stop by next time!" hee hee!

Wow it looks incredible! Makes me want to go even more- the Australian dollar went kinda crummy compared to the Yen though so it put a bit of a halt to my plans. The scenery is amazing and beautiful.
